I worked at Givaudan as a contractor

    Pros

If you're a manager or above you have power and are treated fairly until you retire or quit

    Cons

Cliquey managers boys club except for hr which is a girls club never hired spent 6 years there as a temp. Abused by managers forced to work overtime without pay. Management arrogant disrespectful uncaring selfish and at times overbearing.

    Advice to Management

Why bother they only pretend to listen and do as they please. They just want to use the advice here to protect the company from lawsuits. The management only treats you fairly 10% of the time the other 90% they overwork underpay you and berate you. HR dept is clueless nightmarish and only cares about how they can avoid lawsuits while scrimping every penny they can from employees. It only would be worse if I was a 3rd shift factory employee who they treat like slaves in their unsafe failure prone accident plagued factory. Nothing seemed to be enough for the managers there. In short if you enjoy being treated poorly while doing all the work getting zero recognition at the same time being disrespected head exposed to dangerous chemicals this is the place for you

I worked at Givaudan full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are decent; company is stable and profitable. Non-managerial employees are nice and receptive to new ideas, and very willing to learn if given an opportunity.

    Cons

Bullying is an understatement. Management is unresponsive at best and disrespectful and extremely unprofessional at worst. If a manager doesn't want to do something critical to the success another's role or initiative, it doesn't get done. Zero teamwork. Bad behavior is not corrected or addressed, but instead defended. Boys' club all the way. When top management is yucking it up with the fellas at lunch about football and not showing up to your meetings, you know you pretty much have no shot. The business is very profitable so the behavior continues unaddressed; the only hope is that the fat, dumb and happy days are over and someone without an agenda walks into Budd Lake to straigten out the boys who think they can run the show all by themselves.

    Advice to Management

Switzerland: get in there and do some ethics audits and anonymous surveys. The mistreatment borders on harrassment and if you don't get it in check soon, you'll be writing out checks. Settlement checks, that is.

    I worked at Givaudan full-time

    Pros

    Closed last week of year

    Cons

Not enough headcount - people forced out in suspicious ways at NJ locations, others retire and quit, no one hired to fill these positions, those remaining expected to absorb the workload. People in both NY and NJ offices overworked, miserable, little room for growth and rare promoting from within, no raises or bonuses unless you're "important" (perfumers, upper mgmt, sales) everyone else expected to work like dogs to pad the important people's bank accounts.

Clunky systems that slow down work, terrible customer service to clients, clients complain that business is more difficult with Givaudan compared to competitors. NY office very cliquey, old ladies that behave like mean girls, higher ups allowed to bully others and get promotions for it, different rules for different teams, certain teams given perks that Others are not and upper mgmt allows. Surprising that this company isn't sued more often for all the unethical and illegal practices they allow to occur openly.

    Advice to Management

Stop being too cheap to hire enough people and buy the right software. Many good people have left and will continue to, and they talk openly in the industry about how miserable it is to work at Givaudan.

I worked at Givaudan full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The only pros are the cafeteria, decent coffee and good benefits. These pros, however, do not even begin to outweigh the cons.

    Cons

Where can I start? The management (and HR) is extremely corrupt and the building consists of the worst office politics I have seen anywhere. The training is nonexistent and most of the people within the company are there to bring you down, not build you up (Asking for help is a sign of weakness). Run as fast as you can from this company!

    Advice to Management

Invest in proper training and take some courses on how to be a proper manager.

    Pros

This was a good place to work back in the day...no longer the case. Upper Mgmnt (Dept Mgrs as well as HR) does not demonstrate leadership, and comes across as demeaning 80% of time. They are nice 20% of time only when they want something from you.

    Cons

Demeaning leadership, favortism, HR is not receptive and not approachable (corporate and plant). Lack of interdepartment communication.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees, as they work very long hours and are not acknowledged for their dedication.

    Pros

The cons make any pro non-existent.

    Cons

Management is abusive & smokes in their offices. There is no growth here, at any level. HR is corrupt. I have worked in many industries and companies over the past 15 years and this is by far the most unethical and emotionally draining place to work.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of NAFF management and invest in your staff!
