    Pros

If you brown nose well, this is the place for you.
    The pay.
Geez I have a 20 word minimum with nothing to say.

    Cons

    Just about everything.
Their contract is ridiculous. Wait until you read it.
I have to give them one star when it's not deserved.
The offer was fantastic, but the job description didn't last. Once they learn that you are multi-talented, they will add more work on you. They will butter you up and compliment your for your talents, giving you the warm and fuzzies. Then when you can't handle the workload, they give you a lecture about doing what you have to do to keep up since you are a salary employee, but no over time pay, even though they treat you like an hourly employee when giving vacation time. I don't mind working 60 hours a week, but don't keep piling the work on me if it takes me 60 hours to keep my head above water. And even though you work 60 hours a week, they cut you no slack when it comes to vacation time and they give you Comp Time either. When you mention the over time, the remind you that the OT was not approved. I was absolutely miserable at this job. They are the absolute worst company I have ever worked for. I dreaded going into the office. After I quit, I had to take anti-depressants just to remember that it was not me that was terrible, it was the company. This is no joke. Heed

    Advice to Management

You have a great product that is highly over priced. Sell the company to someone who will care for its employees and customers.

I worked at Givex full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Process to get hired is quick
    - vacation days get carried over, if management likes you they can give you 3 weeks off
    - tools they provide are better than some companies out there
    - place is opened 24/7
    - office is nice

    Cons

    - 9 hr work days and need to be punctual, so only work here if you live closeby
    - very seldom do they acknowledge your work and provide
    - bonus is very small and excuse is due to acquisitions
    - use of fridge / microwave (management has this hidden for night shift workers to only use)
    - MICROMANAGEMENT you are monitored like a hawk
    - this is a family owned business that pretends they are a corporation. I haven't seen an award won by this company and that's due to the lack of innovations and customer service
    - no level of growth since there is only 3 levels in this company,ceo/hr (wife), managers and their disciples.

    Advice to Management

    - business process reorganization (if you don't know what that term means I wish this company good luck).
    - this is a tech company, keep up with the trends that other employers offer
    - acknowledge your employees, reward them for the hard work for them to want to continue working for this company
    - understand other companies and see what departments should be created
    - HR needs to focus on keeping employees happy. Clearly the CEO's wife isn't doing a great job.
    - Managers need to act like managers, do not insult your fellow employees, very rude and sarcastic tone too. Need to go to 'how to be a better manager', this includes you HR. Know your roles and how you can become better at it.

I have been working at Givex full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There’s been a lot of change over the last 6 months & management seems to be trying to move the company forward from it’s past culture ( easier said than done).

Moved offices into a much nicer space downtown and work hours changed a few month’s back. Product is evolving and future outlook seems to be getting better. Great place to get your hands dirty with lots of opportunity if you know how to work around certain politics.

    Cons

Some older employees resent the place and it shows. The company still has a ways to go from the past to the future and some staff are stuck in the old way of things. Projects often take a long time to work their way through development...

    Advice to Management

Think the company needs new blood to effect real change. Invest more in people and give them the freedom / flexibility they need to get things done (easier to lead with a carrot than a stick). Listen to your people.

I worked at Givex full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great location, good team moral, the local management are supportive and hands on, free fruit, cakes and celebration for birthdays, good office atmosphere, good place for graduates to develop their career, bonus scheme. Givex are very good at supporting charities and doubling staff donations.

    Cons

Although the working hours have been reduced to 8.30-5.30 the early mornings are still a pain. 20 days holiday plus bank holidays is not very good especially when many of the employees have young familes.

    Advice to Management

Allow your hardworking staff more holiday time and greater flexibility.

I worked at Givex full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There are some cool people… who will leave because this place is rough. There is free fruit, to try to make up for the lack of lunch room, and its a way to seem like they are doing something nice for you… it isn't worth it

    Cons

    Where do I begin…

You have to work from 8:30 till 6 every day. No matter what. If its a slow day/week/month, you have to work these hours. you have to look busy during these slow times or they will pile more work on you, which, in busy season, you will not be able to handle.

No one talks. You feel alone in a large room full of people. It is ran as if everyone is working in a call centre, even if you are an educated, highly skilled employee, it feels like you should be answering phones with the rest of the call centre people… who are in the same room as you.

Sales rules supreme, and no matter how silly their requests are, you have to get them done. The sales people are not the brightest and they are all related to the owner.

there is no HR Department… there is but he is there to appease the owner, therefore being useless.

No matter how hard you work, or how good you work they don't appreciate it.

This job is a Noose around your neck, and the owners Don and Debra are there to kick your feet out from under you.

    Advice to Management

Listen to these reviews, and change accordingly. LIFE IS NOT GIVEX AND PEOPLE ARE VALUABLE.

I worked at Givex full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Difficult to think any Pros for this company.

    Cons

Horrible HR rules ,treating like family owned business , where they want to hire a servant and make him do all the work...of BA, PM , Production Support , ...and call him Project manager.

No industry standard software or practices
    Very high expectation
Worst work culture you can imagine.
    Office in a jungle
    No work life balance

    They want slave.. not employee...

because of horrible HR rules( like they dont take people who smoke , so that people dont take 10 minute breaks) , people are not joining , still they anytime hire and fire.
You are expected to work non stop for 10-12 hours daily...non stop means non-stop.. no breaks allowed.
Above that no holiday till 1 year and many irrational rules.

    Advice to Management

Its no more a family business. it a full grown company...understand that resources are important... big organization are not fool.. who give their employees.. so many benefits..its the the employees.. who run company.. and not the company who runs employee...

    Change work hours
    Employee more people
Assign designated work ( project manager should not be doing , PM , BA, Support , Testing and all other role)
Make a place where people enjoy doing work.... Slavery is not possible anymore...

    Pros

You speak English? ok you're in.

    Cons

Sadly, pretty much everything that has been said here is true and it all comes down to the style of management and culture that is enforced. Based on a policy of fear, with too much focus on finance and zero on the employee. No matter how hard you work and how good you contribute to the job they take pride on a “zero flexibility policy” so don’t expect to have a good balance between work and your personal life. There is a generalized feeling that you need to constantly cover your back as someone will try to blame you for something. There is no interest whatsoever in providing any type of training and helping you grow professionally. You are not measured by your achievements but of how well you stick to this culture . You will have to make up for every minute if you need to run a quick errand (but they are nice enough to give you the option of deducting the equivalent from your pay). The additional time you often work by giving the extra mile doesn’t count. Depressive place to work and certainly not the Canadian type of company where good values are cascaded. Rotation might be the higher you’ll find, that’s for a reason. Human relationships are an important aspect to a company’s productivity, but this has not been acknowledged in this company.
