    Pros

Benefits, salary and some of the people

    Cons

Upper management could not make decisions and two years later still looks as if the same is continuing. If you are not in the "network" you have no chance of ever advancing and most of those in the network don't do or know much; that's why the share price continues to slide.

    Advice to Management

Make a decision and stick with it for the long haul no matter how much it may hurt.

I worked at GlaxoSmithKline as a contractor

    Pros

Free tea or coffee. Pay is ok although some contract workers get more than others depending on the staffing agent.

    Cons

Will fire you for if you slip up. If you're a contract worker don't expect to be treated like staff and try to stay on their good side even if they talk bad about you just suck it up and accept it; stand up for yourself if you don't want a job there.

    Advice to Management

Stop judging staff and talk bad behind their back. Respect employees or just don't hire them in the first place if they aren't the submissive type who doesn't care to be treated equally.

I have been working at GlaxoSmithKline full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Flexible schedule
Job has recognition for being a tough industry to break into.
    Help people with meds.
Has Internet, phone, and iPad paid for.
    Pay is great.

    Cons

Field sales is awful, you are graded on a bell curve for the most part some are targeted to be lower than others.
You aren't paid on sales, you are paid on ride alongs that aren't consistent with grading metrics across the board.
    Super toxic culture.
District managers check boxes for ride alongs.
They base things on sales while maintaining they don't.
    It's so fake here.

    Advice to Management

You are all out of touch and terrible at what you drove this company to!!

    Pros

This was once a good company with good products & good training & good performance incentive plans.

    Cons

"Patient First" is the name of their new performance incentive plan. It consists of taking online assessments & checking boxes on field sales calls. You should be in the library studying instead of making sales calls based on this system. There is nothing "patient first" about this company. Always living in fear of layoffs & dreading the next manager field ride-along & whether all of your boxes will be "checked".

    Advice to Management

"Patient First" is awful. It is a dis-incentive program. Manager ride-alongs are a waste of oxygen. Managers should partner with their reps to help drive sales, not sit back & check boxes.

    Pros

Good physical location, short drive, short commute for workers. Lots of room in empty oversize building not utilized even 75% I would guess.

    Cons

Company does not use due diligence in contracting for la supplies. Spends too much due to not allowing competitive bidding on la supplies. Spends millions of dollars a year too much for lab supplies.

    Advice to Management

Look to diversify your vendor base. You are leaving yourself open to a discrimination lawsuit and a loss of federal contracts due to discrimination against small companies.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at GlaxoSmithKline full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The company provides good benefits and a competitive salary. There are significant in-house resources available for personal and technical development.

    Cons

Overburdened and top-heavy structure which led to "oversight" that crippled the ability to get anything done. The company promotes those that play politics, even if they are technically inept. The company suffers from cumbersome internal review processes in a market that demands a more agile and adaptable approach. This process results in a significant amount of work that does not help advance programs and projects, further increasing an already heavy workload that makes having a healthy work/life balance impossible.
