I worked at GlaxoSmithKline full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Strong Respiratory Division
    Strong Vaccine Division
    Good Benefits
    Fair compensation

    Cons

Significant inconsistencies in objectivity at the leadership level
Performance ratings which determine bonus payouts are not determined by sales results they are determined by behaviors and competencies which leads to biases . Many competent sales people and producers are not receiving deserved payouts.
Those who speak up & voice unpopular concerns are forced out
    Many gender and ethnic biases

    Advice to Management

Look at the sales numbers and the bottom line - don't be fooled by the "posers" at the Nat'l Mtgs who say the right things but year after year under perform and you still give them high ratings.

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at GlaxoSmithKline full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people, good benefits. Large pharma (95,000 employees) means lots of opportunity to move around.

    Cons

UK based company, very slow to make decisions. Poor growth prospects for the portfolio likely means continued round of layoffs.

    Advice to Management

Empower your organization by enabling decision making at lower levels; GMS Exec and R&D Exec (including governance forums - PIB, etc), too slow to make decisions because too much needs to funnel through them
