I have been working at Glen Raven Mills as an intern

    Pros

Great management team and corporate culture. Glen Raven cares about their employees from the top all the way down.

    Cons

No true cons. Salary was a little low for a Master's degree intern, but not too low ($25/hr) and a great salary for the area.

    Pros

Already had ten plus tears computer experience, learned spreadsheet, orders and invoices. Scan guns for stock, industrial engineering. Dealing with truck drivers as to dispatch them. Managing my subordinates

    Cons

No room for advancement and pay cap out.

    Advice to Management

Open up to younger employees about moving up in the business.

I have been working at Glen Raven Mills full-time

    Pros

    Good environment and friendly co-workers

    Cons

Very poor hierarchal culture. Everyone is concerned about maintaining their own position which creates a culture of not working together. Nepotism is also a huge issue...

    Advice to Management

Maybe stop blatant nepotism? Try hiring the most qualified people and not the most connected. Parents hiring their children never looks good when you do not own the company.

I have been working at Glen Raven Mills full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

We are offered wonderful benefits and great work environment. Job responsibilities are enjoyable. Health insurance is the best I've ever had.

    Cons

There isn't much to advance to unless you have a bachelors degree. This is disheartening for those of us who have years of experience.

I worked at Glen Raven Mills as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

    * Great physical work environment: free fruit, coffee, tea, ... nice renovated office space.
    * Good IT equipment: licenses accurate and equipment replaced on a reasonable schedule.
    * Great people: good teams and friendly cooperative work environment.

    Cons

    * Water Fall Development: nothing agile about the development cycles.
    * Risk Adverse: could push the technology envelope a bit more, for instance VDI or Apple computers.

    Advice to Management

    * Do more cross training. I know that's tough, but it will help keep the departments cooperating with each other. And, being able to grasp "the whole picture" helps prevent silo thinking.

I worked at Glen Raven Mills full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great environment, support, culture. I worked at Glen Raven for five years. The company strives to produce excellent products and to support them with outstanding customer service.

    Cons

For me, the limited advancement options were an issue. They do promote from within but owing to the satisfaction of most employees, few people leave.
