      I worked at Glencore full-time

      Pros

Good company in terms of reputation and opportunity.

      Cons

Can be toxic work environment where you have to watch your back, exacerbated by top down management structure where individuals are not empowered to make their own decisions.

      Approves of CEO

I worked at Glencore full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Great people, lax environment, top level traders willing to teach you the business

      Cons

Weak pay, significantly below industry standards. Bad company culture, gossip is encouraged. Even HR reps sleep around with married men. Promotion for Americans is few and far between, all basis nepotism, not the quality of your work.

        Approves of CEO

I have been working at Glencore full-time for more than 6 years

        Pros

Stable company with generally excellent management and colleagues. Good pay and benefits. Collaborative environment. Work life balance is well managed.

        Cons

Perhaps too stable. Powers are held by only a handful of people, which means everyone knows who the real bosses are, but its a long and challenging road to the top.

        Advice to Management

More formal training and rotating responsibilities can benefit the company.

          I worked at Glencore

          Pros

Good work life balance, not long hours if it doesn't have to be. Average industry pay for positions in field

          Cons

Average industry pay. Difficult to move up in organization if you are good at your job as management is reluctant to lose you in your role

          I worked at Glencore

          Pros

Many chances to learn while dealing with many different situations. You easily get to have a lot of responsibilities.

          Cons

Absence of formation. Long hours. The environment was a bit stressing since there were too many firings.

I have been working at Glencore full-time

          Pros

Formerly Falconbridge, which became Xstrata, then Glencore. Lots of opportunities within the company to move between different departments, and different sites. People are really wonderful to work with.

          Cons

Sometimes you have to push for what you want. You need to put yourself in front. No one will come handing you anything on a silver platter.
