- 3.0Jul 27, 2023TeacherCurrent Employee, more than 5 yearsGlendale, CA
Pros
The district is willing to provide resources needed for student success. Co-workers were supportive of one another. This definitely depends on the school site! Technology is utilized well. District has dual immersion schools.
Cons
Admin is a mixed bag and is usually switched out every 3-5 years. Don't get too used to your amazing principal because they will be taken away from you! There's been an uptick in right-wing extremist parents trying to control the direction of the district. These parents are a headache to deal with. GTA and the district struggle to negotiate important matters like pay and it often ends in GTA getting the shorter end of the stick.

Efforts at the school levels seem less focused on student achievements for their own personal growth and more on PR for the principals of the schools

Pros
Getting to work with kids. Flexibility to switch between campuses and schedules.

Very little work at this point. Low pay that doesn’t ever go up in relation to how long you’ve been there. No raises, basically. Only for permanent employees. Work environment can definitely get toxic. Only good for retired people or students.
