I worked at Global Blue full-time

    Pros

Good location, big corporate, international, all sorts of people.

    Cons

Full of bureaucratic procedures. Hard to tell where the company wants to head to.

    Advice to Management

    Need better communication, better transparency

    Negative Outlook

    Pros

Some of the staff ( both UK & overseas ) are good. Head office ( Austria ) leave U.K. To themselves ( which is good at times )

    Cons

Bad UK Management, Backstabbing and a blame culture is very evident. Seems like people are just out to protect themselves and will pass blame onto anyone else.
Could be better if changes are made.
Split between Sales & other departments is very evident. There is very little staff harmony & team morale.
Technology is confusing & is always changing . Also testing on technology seems to be very ad hoc.

    Advice to Management

Overseas management need to look at UK and make changes.
Ratings relate mainly to U.K. Operation.

    Pros

Good for people who can ACT they are working for company, do nothing and put blame on others or other teams.

    Cons

I had a beyond good performance appraisal evaluation. There was little hike / no promotion compared to that years company standards. Lots of other people who were sitting idle or doing "whatever" got a good deal. The department head explanation was superb. "I dont care about performance evaluation reports and the justification points inside. I have my own ways of rating people". Needless to stay i didnt stay there.

    Advice to Management

No Advice. Nothing will change. Future applicants be wary.

    Pros

You have many colleagues from all over the world. If you are lucky you are allowed to travel in business class to Singapore.

    Cons

The Management is the worst I have ever seen. No clear focus. Much politics going on.

    Advice to Management

Hire competent people pay them well and TREAT them well. Changing strategy every few months is contraproductive.

I worked at Global Blue (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Colleagues are very friendly.
    Salary are quite competitive.
Frequent opportunities to travel with work which is always nice.

    Cons

Lack of strategic direction from leadership team
Attempt lots of new ideas, but don't persevere or deliver things well
Has a tendency to commit to a strategy, and will spend time, resource and budget on it - then often change direction and drop projects which is clearly a waste of time, effort and money.

    Advice to Management

Strengthen the leadership team. Commit to strategy and see it through. Value team members and reward hard work.

    Pros

Software engineers work on global revenue generating applications
Engineering team has pretty relaxed attitude towards office hours and dress code
Lots of design and architecture freedom given to software engineers
Lots of options to work on different technologies

    Cons

Product Management is mostly located in Europe
Office is nice, but could use a little more style
If you expect to lean back and not have to think at work, this is not the place for you

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Global Blue full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

International, diffrent cultures, few nice people, that's all! I just need to write 20 words here, so I am empty.

    Cons

Confused business people focus on how to run the business from today to tomorrow, terrible code, no experience, some dev lead positions without any clear purpose, unclear requirements, one team responsible for production code (teams have no clue when their components are release and if they work), dinosaur technologies, terrible and loud open office, terrible coffee, half of the company does nothing and pretends like it's super busy, people dont accept any technical improvements, reporting your daily work in millions of diffrent tools and many many more.

    Advice to Management

You are trying to digitize the company, but you are mostly focus on running the business only. You are not working on any technology improvements. Every unit of value works in a vacuum, completely separate from the others. Same things are done in different units.

I worked at Global Blue (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Global Blue really looks after its employees and offers a very generous staff remuneration package. The culture is very professional but also personable at the same time. I was lucky enough to make some really good contacts as well as travel on business around the world to Brazil, Switzerland, and Belgium. This is a really good company and I would highly recommend it.

    Cons

Tax Free is a very specialist area - this can drastically diminish your transferable skills when looking at other roles. GB has a very rigid employee structure which makes it hard to progress unless someone leaves.

    Advice to Management

The management team are approachable at all times but can also be a bit top down at times and lacking in transparency.

    Pros

Large international corporate, still small in each country. Partnerships with some strong retail brands. Multiproduct gives good exposure. Good office location.

    Cons

Company sales are hugely dependent on external international factors, but they don't seem to invest in the company products, Staff have huge workload on average, and Staff are not replaced when someone leaves, across IT for example, so workload increases further to other departments, which results in clients leaving the company, because staff are unable to support them fully in any department. Priority goes to budgeting and happy to leave clients suffering, just relying on sales guys to cover up and deal with it. As a result, couple of people leave and followed by almost 50 percent of staff leave their positions every year. Bonuses have been slashed for years now apparently...

    Advice to Management

Management don't seem be able to see through the basic problem... or if they can then maybe they don't care?

I worked at Global Blue full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good Location. Other than that, nothing more.

    Cons

High turnover rate of employees says it all. Doesn’t know the importance of proper system. Fickle minded management, does not appreciate employees. What I learnt from here is that anyone can be easily replaceable. Directions are ever changing. Despite all these, management sets sky high expectations for performance.
Incompetent and inefficiently functioning human resources department definitely reflects the overall state of an organization. Leaves me wonder if this is even an international corporation.

    Advice to Management

Do something about it before all good employees leave.
