I have been working at Global Business Travel Association full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

GBTA encourages creativity and encourages employees to take initiative to solve problems. Executive staff does not micromanage thereby allowing you the freedom you need to do your job efficiently the way that you feel best.

    Cons

Internal communication is a work in progress. The effort is being made to do a better job but if you work from home you still need to ask to make sure you stay on top of what you need to know.

    Advice to Management

Continue the course. Keep looking for the most talented and creative people that always put the client first. As a member organization we live and die by our members.

I worked at Global Business Travel Association full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Working at GBTA afforded me the opportunity to work with a number of competent, driven professionals who truly care about the work that they do. The overall environment and culture was fun to work in, but mileage may vary on that view as it is highly-dependent on who you talk to. Heath benefits are some of the best I've seen, and the new central office location in old town Alexandria is certainly a perk. May have a...

    Cons

Unfortunately, there are a few. There has been a considerable amount of turnover since 2018, which seemed to have been kicked-off with the unceremonious ousting of some key executives/staff. (Clandestine and poorly-handled staff terminations are not at all uncommon.) Senior executive leadership seems to have a habit of sugar-coating the state of the organization, which does little to ease the panic/level of trust when...

    Advice to Management

Your greatest asset is the people you hire. Be upfront with them; change is not bad, but when you aren't transparent it breeds mistrust and makes people want to leave. Listen to them; chances are they have a better idea as to what is going on than the board of directors. Oh, and having c-suite execs padding Glassdoor reviews in plain view of other employees is a bad look. (And you aren't fooling anyone.)

"Terrible Leadership, Low Morale Across the Org"

I worked at Global Business Travel Association full-time for more than a year

    Pros

None, the disorganization and low morale across this organization is crippling.

    Cons

Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. I'm sure HR will respond with survey results (which they don't share with the employees) saying "over 90% of GBTA employees indicate their desire to remain working for GBTA for 5 years or more." And yet every week more people leave. Almost 30 people quit in the last year alone, many without other jobs lined up. Don't make the same mistake.

    Advice to Management

When people are abandoning ship at such an alarming rate, maybe you should take a look at the captains.

Thanks for your feedback and I am sorry your expectations were not met. I always find it interesting that people without access to information quote anonymous sources. For all of 2018, GBTA's average turnover rate was 2.9% or less than 2 persons/month. As an HR professional, that ...

I have been working at Global Business Travel Association full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Great benefits, (mostly) amazing coworkers, good location

      Cons

No transparency, extremely high turnover (15% of employees either quit or were fired in a 1.5-year period), management doesn't care, some incompetent coworkers, management bends over backwards for sponsors and the Board

      Advice to Management

Instead of sweeping everything under the rug and pretending everyone is happy, actually listen to your employees' concerns. Reveal the results of the employee survey. Be transparent. BUY SPOONS.

      Cons

I have been working at Global Business Travel Association full-time for more than 4 years

      Pros

Great people, great benefits, and very good work like balance. Most positions can work remote one day a week which is great.

      Cons

The leadership has simply stopped listening. There was recently a reorganization that has left the organization hurting. Leaderships has refused to see the issues.

      Advice to Management

Listen and care about your employees.

Thanks for your feedback. Change is difficult for employees and reorganizations often leave people confused. We have instituted a number of communication vehicles for employees to voice their concerns. Sorry that don't feel your concerns have been heard.
