I have been working at Global Science & Technology full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Fantastic company and genuinely nice and caring people. I'd say you would be hard pressed to find current or former employees that would say anything negative about GST.

    Cons

The company is focused primarily on Federal contracting which at times makes the pursuit of work in other segments challenging.

    Advice to Management

    None

I worked at Global Science & Technology full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    It niche in gov contracting.

    Cons

Needs to mend split between project management in MD and WV. They are uncoordinated...have agendas and have forced people to leave whom do not fit well in their eyes, even if they did their job. Too much kissing butt and not a lot of courage in management to make changes and try even if it is a risk.

    Advice to Management

Move more to private work and get away from government contracting as the bread and butter of your company. Need to develop a better business model to make that transition.

    Cons

Communication is lacking at times; Higher ups aren't really in the loop on what exactly your tasks are at times; Pay could be more competitive

    Advice to Management

Facilitate more engagement between leads and team.

I have been working at Global Science & Technology full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They offer good benefits and are the one of the highest paying employers in town

    Cons

The home office is located in Maryland, and the place I work is in a different state, so there is a sense of disconnect with certain support (ex: HR or payroll) and everything is done via email

    Advice to Management

I appreciate the little perks that you do like the biannual gift from Land's End clothing and appreciate the fact you try and keep us as one family even though we are scattered all over the east coast.

    Pros

Kind colleagues, low-stress environment, generous benefits package. Has a small-company feel - you get to know almost everybody that works there on a first-name basis. Management is flexible with respect to work hours, telecommuting and attire. Lots of intelligent and personable co-workers make the atmosphere pleasant and interesting.

    Cons

Small opportunities to advance, mostly due to small size and limited number of contracts. Senior management tends to lose contracts easily because larger partner/competitor companies push GST out. As most contracts are small (in terms of number of FTEs and dollars available from customer), there are less opportunities for upward movement than similar sized organizations.

    Advice to Management

Be more aggressive about winning government contracts.
