I have been working at Global Solar Energy full-time

    Pros

I've been working here for over 2 years now, and so far I have been impressed by the atmosphere and working environment. I am excited about the product, and the future of the company as management is focused on making cutting edge products that will one day revolutionize the solar industry. It's amazing to be a part of this team.

    Cons

None that I can think of.

    Advice to Management

Keep focusing on the future, and communicating company goals as we move forward.

I have been working at Global Solar Energy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Global Solar energy is THRIVING. We are a passionate group of people who happily work together to perform and create great products! I didn't know this, but, according to Glassdoor, our yearly income is between $50-100 MILLION. Not bad for a company of less than 200 employees! After reading the few previous reviews, about GSE "sinking", I LOL. The truth is... We are planning to expand nationwide.
Personally, I am excited to be apart of this team! I was stuck the last 20 years doing the same thing every day, not making a difference, bored out of my mind and micromanaged. Not here. I've never been happier in my professional life.

    Cons

None that I have encountered so far. Pay is above average, coworkers are respectful and kind, and get this... I am appreciated! What?! With any growing company, there are bound to be some kinks in the road. Personally, I wish Glassdoor didn't have this "cons"section. I mean, really, what company is PERFECT? And who actually trusts the "star" ratings from PREVIOUS employees?

    Advice to Management

The managers are the hardest working if seen in my 15 year engineering career. Their dedication to is like no other. My advice is "take more time off". GSE has an exceptional PTO/Sick/Vacation benefit. A few days off here and there help to re-set your minds and creativity talents is necessary.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Global Solar Energy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company provides great benefits at a reasonable cost. The pay is at or above average for the Tucson area. The parent company is heavily investing in the Tucson facility both in machinery and people.

    Cons

Since the previous CEO stepped down in January there has been little effort by the new CEO to provide information about short term and long term plans. There have been many long term employees whom have left recently which by it self may signal a sinking ship without the positive signals above regarding hiring and facilities improvements.

    Advice to Management

Resume quarterly all hands meetings. Figure out why long term employees are leaving and resolve their issues. Nothing says sinking ship better than 12 employees leaving in a single year including the CEO, a director, and manager.

    Pros

    Innovative Technology
    Small company atmosphere
    Good benefit

    Cons

Decisions were made without much thoughts on bottom line. Company was not transparent; information/financials were not shared even among management. There were multiple changes of ownership during the entire history of company when shareholders ran out of patient waiting for company to transition from prototype to commercial production, but same management team remained.

    Advice to Management

Make a goal and stick with it

I worked at Global Solar Energy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Dedicated team of Engineers working towards Continuous Improvement in all aspects of the product.

    Cons

Rummer mill in Production area goes unchecked by Management. Weak and biased Management team on floor level.

    Advice to Management

Get out from behind your desks and try some "Management by Walking Around". Control personnel acting in "pack" mentality by getting to the problem quickly. Don't judge new employees based on the feelings and judgements of subordinates who are old friends.
