    28 Years of Loyalty Lost

Mar 2, 2023 - Agency Owner in Birmingham, AL

    Pros

I finished my long 28-year career as an Agent in Birmingham AL. During my time with Liberty National I held numerous positions such as Agent, Sales Manager, District Manager, Branch Manager and even Regional Vice President of Liberty National Life. I'm proud to say that I excelled at every opportunity I was placed, as reflected in my 26 Torch Clubs, 6 Council of Campions, and numerous other awards during my career. I earned great income with Liberty National, because i worked hard and i always took pride in my work.

    Cons

Unfortunately, my long career with Liberty National came to a sudden halt, due to the new appointment of President - Steve Dichiaro and his American Income buddies. My performance was well above average and certainly above all company minimum standards, so they had absolutely no grounds to remove me from my position as Agency Owner. I must have done something that really upset President Steve Dichiaro, since he had to get super creative to find a way remove me from my position as Agency Owner. They couldn't actually demote me, so they actually had to close my entire office and then they re-open another office in the same spot overnight. I was given only two choices - Quit or Be Reassigned as an Agent. Thats right ...the same position I started in back in 1992.

    Pros

Nice co-workers, nice office. That’s it.

    Cons

    1. They don’t pay you ANYTHING unless you make a close. They will have you driving all over the place, walking into countless businesses to solicit and experiencing negative confrontation all for no compensation. For training, I was driving 1-2 hours away every day for 2 weeks to meet with my trainer to ride around in their car all day. Again, no compensation for training whatsoever. 2. You have to screen your own leads by lying to them. They literally have you use a fake name and number to call a list of businesses in your area, telling them you’re “updating public records” in order to ask them who owns the business, how many employees and where its located. They act extremely supportive and kind towards you, but when you question them they get defensive. They use favors as a manipulative tool against you. The owner paid for most of my license education program. They use a lot of positive reinforcement such as little rewards for making a lot of phone calls, or ‘Rookie if the Week’ recognitions. If you are new and you ‘work hard’ they ‘help you’ in the beginning by writing you a tiny check if their surplus commissions which is typically less than $500.

    HR Manager

Thank you for your feedback and for your contributions to our team. This agent position does require a self-motivated, persistent, and sales-minded individual to succeed and isn't for everyone. With the right person, this career can be incredibly rewarding financially and professionally. We wish you nothing but the best in your future endeavors.

Many promises that failed to be met

Feb 9, 2023 - Supervisor in Tucker, GA

    Business Outlook

    Pros

The people are the trade of this company. The office, supervisors, agency directors, and agency owners are all very charming people, and they will provide training to you with no prior experience needed, and you will receive help if you absolutely need it. Leads are provided, and the office space is good.

    Cons

Personally felt as if most leads were low in quality. It's up to each individual agent to build their own leads from the initial pool of leads that agency directors pass onto you. Office hours are long, and harsh. Supervisors and agency directors especially can expect to be at the office hours before individual career agents, and are also the last to leave. This is a call center job. You will most likely enjoy meeting clients and talking to people, but to get people to sit down and talk to you, you must call. Office hours are 6+ hours of calling, with a 10 minute break at the end of every hour. Be prepared to drive, and when I mean drive, I mean 8+ hours a day for field days. You are in the office half the week, and then in the field the other half. *IMPORTANT* - you WILL face rejection, and an insane amount of it. At the end of the day, this is a sales job. There are quotas and goals that must be met every day and week. There are strategies in place to make these sales, and 90% of it is memorizing a script and not detouring from it. Please keep in mind that although mentioned earlier that everyone who works in the office are good people that are charismatic, do not allow yourself to step away from this job if you are not feeling rewarded financially and mentally.

Good overall experience with the company

Jan 29, 2023 - Customer Retention Specialist in McKinney, TX

    Pros

Opportunity for training and advancement, the flexibility of work schedules would allow you to move from part-time to full-time employee and to work modified schedules if needed due to personal reasons if you follow protocol and give notice in advance, health benefits, and retirement options available. I was able to license in different states allowing me to manage at least 3 Lines of business giving me more opportunities to bonus over my regular pay.

    Cons

Extreme micro-managing to the second, quality of calls, the average time of calls and so many more. If you don't let it affect you and you are responsible it won't matter much but can be annoying if you are good at independent work. Experience with management has been for the most part a comfortable one, as always and in every job there is a very few managers that are non-cooperative and unpleasant to work with, thankfully none are my direct manager. Like any customer service job, you will encounter unpleasant clients from time to time on the phone that, may insult, be racist, rude, and uneducated, you may be affected at the beginning and build tolerance at the end.
