I have been working at Glyph Language Services full-time for more than a year

    Pros

You will find only positive and passionate people here. There is no politics and the drive to succeed is so strong. Work is interesting. The management cares how happy you are. You will not regret.

    Cons

You will need to be also positive and passionate. This is not cons but I thought you need to know this.

    Advice to Management

Continue to be transparent and maintain positive atmosphere so we can all thrive.

I have been working at Glyph Language Services full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Upper management is very transparent and welcoming, I have never felt uncomfortable asking questions or scheduling meetings. Glyph is full of smart and reliable employees who are passionate about what they do, everyone is very friendly and creates an environment that makes me excited to go to work every day. Most employees work remotely so being in the office can feel lonely at times, but this is great for those that...

    Cons

Very fast-paced industry, make sure that you are on top of your game (I don't see this as a con, but some people might).

    Advice to Management

Overall, keep being transparent with your employees because you all are doing an amazing job.

I have been working at Glyph Language Services full-time

    Pros

A wide variety of clients makes work fun and always changing. Clients are large professional Fortune 100 type companies with a focus on new tech and a west coast creative flair. Some are more conservative financial type companies. Clients seem genuinely thankful for the service, quality and delivery precision the company provides and the communication with the clients is very fulfilling. The team is young, smart and...

    Cons

The last few years have seen some of turnover in staff. Part of this is due to the company being big on supporting each employee in reaching their career goals and in a small company some have left to pursue new opportunities. While some have come back after learning new skills and experiences elsewhere it can be hard to build momentum especially in sales and marketing when key staff leave.

    Advice to Management

Keep focusing on teamwork and transparency while building a team that will be around for the long run.

I worked at Glyph Language Services full-time

    Pros

Working at Glyph was a very good experience for me: as a fully remote employee, I was very pleasantly surprised by the strong relationships I built with the rest of the project management team. There are no weak links in this company; the leadership is strong, things are moving in the right direction, the head of HR is a really compassionate guy (how rare is that?!), the senior team are seriously impressive, and the work...

    Cons

It won't be great for you if you don't like high expectations. Glyph's aim is to differentiate itself from its competitors on quality, and they are committed to that. You can't goof off! Also, for the moment, no matter where you are in the US, it works best if you stick to Pacific hours. That might be logistically awkward for some people.

    Advice to Management

Keep persevering in the same direction and you will be more than fine.

I worked at Glyph Language Services full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

If you are a problem solver and pro-active, able to offer solutions and not simply able to find problems, this is a great company. I started in one position, and within a week my work was noticed and I was promoted, or at least moved to a different position/department. If I had ideas, people listened and were willing to give me my head and try them. If they failed or didn't work perfectly, it wasn't all on my head, they...

    Cons

Not so much as con, but the stark reality of their business model: The CEO and HR manager are remote. I love them both to death, and this isn't their fault, but at times this caused a chasm between the reality in the office and what they thought was going on. I didn't always struggle with this, because I made a point of connecting with them. But you have to acknowledge this going in. YOU have to reach out, YOU have to...

    Advice to Management

Get stronger central management in Spokane; I don't think it worked to have no central leadership in Spokane. Keep hiring awesome people.

I have been working at Glyph Language Services full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

A very positive work environment. Very flexible hours, just need to be coordinated with the upper management. Good salary for the industry and location. Very good benefits.

    Cons

The company changes its structure too often, but it doesn't seem that there is always a good reason for doing so.

    Advice to Management

My advice to the management is to give people more time for affirmation in the positions that they were assigned.

I have been working at Glyph Language Services full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Glyph has a great team of dedicated and talented employees at all levels of the company. The company has recently reorganized, keeping a strong team of experienced leaders who care about the company, the team and our clients.

    Cons

In the past there have been some members of the management team whose lack of focus, dedication and/or skill caused the company to derail slightly from its growth trajectory, to diminish the employee satisfaction within certain teams and to cause the corporate culture to stray from its previous state of cohesion and pleasantness.

    Advice to Management

Maintain focus on developing the great team we currently have. Do not allow superficial leadership behaviors to distract from true leadership behaviors in deciding how to promote and develop current and future staff.

I worked at Glyph Language Services full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

The type of work that Glyph does is interesting and can provide an enjoyable challenge for those who enjoy language. Glyph provides flexible employee schedules, although some managers are inflexible with their reports' schedules. The company has done well at attracting a good group of employees who care about their jobs -- and each other. The company has provided good benefits, but has had to scale them back significantly...

    Cons

At its very core Glyph is a dysfunctional company, and this is amplified when the company attempts to grow. Executive Management has little to no training in business management. They have been promoted from within and have been making it up as they go along. In the absence of education or proven experience, they apply their own personal approach to business planning, finances, employee relations and communication....

    Advice to Management

Educate yourselves on how businesses are run, how organizations are built and how to get the best out of your employees. Create a solid business direction and march towards a shared goal. Stop spending money you don't have. Rebuild the trust that you've traded on during your failures. Addressing these shortcomings is the only path to building a stronger company.

I worked at Glyph Language Services full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Flexibility for PMs to work from home is nice, this is appreciated when it's necessary to be on email 14-20 hours/day for those critical projects that can't wait 8-10 hours for a response.

    Cons

Above mentioned flexibility rarely, if ever occurs. Upper management takes a "yell and berate" approach to the smallest of details, any kind of post-mortem analysis or requests for changes are ignored in favor of breaking the offending employee down. Little to no mentoring exists, there are no opportunities for advancement. Employees at all levels are not paid consummate to their skills or experience. Highly...

    Advice to Management

Executive level management needs to figure out how to solve problems with their upper management. Upper management needs to learn how to effectively communicate and build a culture of respect and trust where employees feel valued for their contributions instead of ignored until they need to be berated for the smallest of mistakes. A toxic work environment in a field that should be creative and collaborative, extremely...
