    I couldn't take it

    Pros

You'll learn to cook things, which is kind of rewarding. They'll work with you if you have school or other commitments. You can eat there cheaper than everyone else. Solid vacation policy. Pretty easy to get hired.

    Cons

Oh boy: Hourly rate does not reflect the level of responsibility expected of you at ALL. Upper management has some unrealistic expectations from store management/hourly employees. They're constantly pushed to see who can do the exact same job for less money. This leads to people not taking pride in the intense level of work expected of them, which leads to bad customer service, which is why this company is falling apart The restaurants are often, if not always, unsanitary. You may have heard of GC's recent PR disaster in 2013. This is not an isolated incident. Nor are the viral pictures of the filthy dishroom. This was an every day thing for most of us. Changing expiration dates on old food was very common to avoid penalization on our quarterly inspections. And finally, the work load was unreal. We were expected to keep the bar area filled to the brim with new product, meet our daily prep and production needs, and assist customers as needed. That was hard enough on its own, but then they rolled out a single serve display which we would run back and forth trying to keep full, sometimes for hours on end. All for 7.50/hr. I would not recommend this job to my worst enemy. Don't consider working for them unless you do not have any other (legal) options. I myself would consider government assistance before I returned to golden corral

    Pros

Great gm pay good but worked you to death Good benefits for education Adequate insurance for managers, lousy for coworkers Enjoyed working with the staff (non management)

    Cons

District manager was a jerk always money hungry Company as a whole only saw everyone as an expense DM was a tightwad when it came to giving raises. Took as many as 3 months to get a 25 cent raise. The upper management tried to undermine you when you tried to do the right thing ethically when disciplining a coworker. Made you do all their work while they tried to get the credit when it was good and when it was bad they blamed you TOO MUCH DRAMA EVEN IN MANAGEMENT was worse than 5 year olds fighting in a sand box

Upper management treats employees horribly. Found a baby cockroach while working one night. They'll fire you for breathing the wrong way. No breaks, incredibly long hours. Work like a slave for horrible pay.

    Pros

my time off is different from the other managers because of what I do and my responsibility. I enjoy my time with the company.

    Cons

the upper management love to give you a target to reach and then change the target when you achieve the goal. its never ending- then what happens is the new managers come in and they don't have the skills to achieve these results, so what happens, this whole game of charades is a way of not paying bonuses. then after 7 years you have managers that are Un qualified to run your 4-5 million dollar restaurants- then you see why you have all the customer complaints and ultimately you have negative sales growth---now you have 2-3 million dollar stores.....
