I have been working at Golden Nugget Hotels & Casinos part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

EXCELLENT PROPERTY!!! Food is great. Co-workers are amazing to work alongside (everyone pulls their weight at my property). Management in the casino overall isn't all that bad (just a few bad apples that need to be gone). Someone is always cleaning the floor; making sure you are having the time of your life. I repeat, not EVERY exec/GM are jerks. My GMs are the nicest bosses I've ever had in my life. The pay is great if you are in school or trying to get up on your feet. Benefits are alright (discounts, etc).

    Cons

Horrible choices in some of the "trainers". Some of them are just employees gone power hungry because they have a title. To get higher, you have to know people and be in the "click. Insurance isn't the best though and you have to pay for your discounts. Kiss your weekends/holidays goodbye. If you aren't ready for that, don't do it.

    Advice to Management

    Weed out the bad execs...

I have been working at Golden Nugget Hotels & Casinos (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The paycheck only because its union. If it was a non union job tillman would pay us minimum wage if that and hire more unnecessary managers.

    Cons

No discounts unless you pay for a landrys select card. No employee parking and edr is horrendous old buffet food leftovers and canned and bagged stuff were told of budget cuts yet he buys an nba team the houston rockets. Downtown has gone down hill with cheap beer and cheap food. So your gonna get alot of obnoxious and rude people.

    Advice to Management

If its management you dont work with directly their rude. They dont walk up and shake your hand and are too busy rushing out for a smoke break or on the phone.

I have been working at Golden Nugget Hotels & Casinos full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Positive work environment, beautiful scenery around the hotel, many restaurants with good reputation.

    Cons

No employee parking, food in the EDR is sub-par at best. Too many people over-use FMLA and refuse to work because of their "job description"

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the people that actually care about the restaurant and dont be blinded by needless favoritism.

I worked at Golden Nugget Hotels & Casinos full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Most of the people that work here are amazing and make coming to work enjoyable. There is a lot of potential.

    Cons

Management needs to pay attention to what is going on. When turnover quadruples in Human Resources someone needs to look at the managers involved. There is only so much disrespect and unprofessional behavior one can take.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to departments that have huge increases in turnover.

I worked at Golden Nugget Hotels & Casinos full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Beautiful spa and salon; clean and tasty food in the "EDR" employee dining room; great team players; above competitive salary.

    Cons

Man power-85% of top positions are men, not flexible with requesting off time, company insurance SUCKED, and rules change frequently

I worked at Golden Nugget Hotels & Casinos full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-when you first walk in you are greeted with smiles unlike L'auberge
-if you're lucky certain departments will waive a tardy or early out and not count it against you if you show up for pre-shift.
-they treat most part-time employees as full if demand requires it.
-co-workers are very easy to get along with if you do it right

    Cons

-they play the same crap over and over again on speakers until it gets annoying
-I don't like the HR secretary, employee relations, nor security. They don't give full surveillance and only target the ones they don't like.
-small break room not enough to choose from, had to skip meals
-steer clear of lost and found or anything unethical you think may be watched
-leave HR alone. you don't bother them they won't bother you.

    Advice to Management

we know you are trying to profit over new hires by firing long term employees over one small policy violation. you gave it away when you asked on newspaper for more gambling action.
