Management is poor and lacks backbones when dealing with high-end players.

I have been working at Golden Nugget Hotels & Casinos full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Turn over is really high. If you stick around you can usually get a full time position pretty fast, there’s some advancement opportunities depending on who’s good side you get on and also transferring opportunities

    Cons

Tons of favoritism! Management loves to take full advantage of its employees with little to nothing to give back. You cannot keep your tips and payout for commission fluctuates but most likely will only be a 5% cut. They are not willing to work with schedules no matter how many times they promise you and they make up their own rules and policies as they go.

    Advice to Management

Start treating your employees like human beings with families and bills and realize how much they do and effect the business stop treating them like a replaceable number. Happy employees equals happy guest

    Pros

    Beautiful casino to work in.

    Cons

Runs shorthanded in all departments for the sake of the bottom line.

    Advice to Management

Guests are not getting the service they deserve. Running a casino shorthanded to be in the green, strangles quality of service.

I worked at Golden Nugget Hotels & Casinos full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The benefits are decent and overall infrastructure is good. Many exciting locations to work at with lots of room to advance.

    Cons

Corporate owner is extremely hands on creating a separate work environment when he is on sight verses when he isn't. Most of his management seems to disagree with many of his policies truly creating an atmosphere yay requires employees to follow two sets of policies.

    Advice to Management

Either confront your corporate CEO with conflicting ideals or follow his directives. It is unfair and dishonest to require your employees to put their jobs at risk daily by going against conflicting instructions.

I worked at Golden Nugget Hotels & Casinos full-time

    Pros

    In my OPINION:
-The company/casino is a fair employer, and the aquariums within the hotel are decent attractions.
-The PAD and Valet staff are very friendly and helpful

    Cons

    In my OPINION:
    - There are no opportunities for advancement or growth within this Dept., resulting in a very high turnover rate amongst employees
-There is a lack of financial and intrinsic incentives, with high stress and much miscommunication and/or lack of communication altogether between all team members.
-Senior management seem protective of their own positions and unwilling to train subordinates accordingly
-"Animal care" equates more with aesthetic perception (ugly fish are often culled)

And benefits are extremely lacking and relatively expensive to pay into

    Advice to Management

-Offer better benefits; if financial incentives or advancement cannot be attained, be more flexible with vacation or PTO time, etc.
    -Treat all employees equally
-Update and improve all training and S.O.P.'s, keeping to a fixed, high standard

I have been working at Golden Nugget Hotels & Casinos part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

17 an hour and commission. Food in the back sometimes. Paid hour lunches. Discount program for Landry's restaurants ($10 paid from your paycheck)

    Cons

Guests upset rooms based based on availability. We end up putting people in two double beds smoking room. Demoralizing. Low commission. Weird inconsistent scheduling. Paying for parking. Can't keep tips, turn them in to have them paid out in the form of Landry's gift cards to use at their restaurants, essentially paying money back into the company.

    Advice to Management

Commission keeps the inspiration to sell so lower the incentive goals to something attainable or make it individually based. Allow tips to be accepted. We just insist we can't accept them at this point. If they were paid out in something less obvious as a gift card to purchase the company's services, we would have more incentive to keep tips.
