I worked at Golden Nugget Hotels & Casinos full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Staff treats you like family
-The pay is pretty competitive from what I've heard
-Management is pretty reasonable as far as time off and disciplinary action

    Cons

-Can get understaffed considering a lot of the summer staff are younger and have school near the beginning and end of the season
-Management/staff changes pretty frequently, so learning new faces fast can get pretty tiresome

    Advice to Management

When the weather gets hot and you feel like your employees aren't doing their best, take a deep breath before you say something that might affect your harried coworkers.

    Pros

Money, direct management, health insurance. There are a fair amount of good things that seemed to be overshadowed by the absolute hypocrisy that is the executive team.

    Cons

Incredible hypocrisy with upper management. Instead of rewarding hard work, or actions that gain revenue for the company, the executive team is more focused on passing the buck and blaming everyone else for their fallacies. They seem to be more focused on having sexual relations with the young women that work there than actually running a company. Ironically, these young women in their restaurants and concepts are not their wives. Also, they constantly practice sexual, racial, and orientation based discriminatory practices.

    Advice to Management

Instead of giving leeway to those that you are currently engaging in a sexual affair with, maybe give it to those that actually show work ethic.

    Cons

No free lunches, benefits are high.

    Pros

Challenging environment with engaged upper management. Great brand with high expectations of performance from guests.

    Cons

Hours are long with a culture of 24/7/365 expected of all employees. Burnout is significant threat.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great engaging work. Figure out how to get "real time off" for team members.

I worked at Golden Nugget Hotels & Casinos full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay is decent. The people you work with on a day to day basis are great. Property is beautiful.

    Cons

No opportunity for advancement unless you are "part of the group." Pay isn't good enough for what you have to go thru. Insurance is TERRIBLE. Management doesn't have enough experience and want to micromanage the ones that know what they are doing instead of allowing them to do their job.

    Advice to Management

Hire people that are right for the job. Find a way to decrease turnover instead of promoting turnover. Shouldn't have the attitude of "you can just quit" when an employee comes to you with an issue.
