I have been working at Golden Nugget Hotels & Casinos full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Paid time off, 401k ( low match but everyone can get it), opportunity to climb if you want a better resume. Great opportunity to make tips.

    Cons

Alot of your co workers abuse or leech off their team members, payroll seems ignorant of local laws, corporate is stingy and only cares about numbers. Management isnt always on the same page.

    Advice to Management

Communicate better with each other and praise for good things like you scold the bad things. Constantly remind your employees you appreciate them and prove it every once in a while.

I worked at Golden Nugget Hotels & Casinos full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good pay, free lunch on shift

    Cons

The manager I had is a bully, micromanaged everything. Nothing was ever good enough or done right. The upper manager knew everyone was miserable but ignored the problem. Couldn’t keep employees because they were too miserable. People quit to make less money elsewhere. Upper management never investigated why they were constantly short staffed. Favorite employees would be treated better than others. The manager would make the employees feel stupid on a regular basis. When I quit I tried to explain why but was ignored and belittled. The benefits weren’t great and there was no vacation time for the first year. No opportunity for advancement as a biologist.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention when a department is short staffed for 2 years. It’s not the employees who leave that are the problem, it’s the manager that’s driving them away.

    Cons

a lot of unecessary standing around before or after hours of operation

    Advice to Management

try to find that middle ground of keeping the servers that keep your restaurant running and guests returning and the management putting pressure on them to make the numbers.

I have been working at Golden Nugget Hotels & Casinos full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There's always something going on. Meeting new people while checking id's at the podiums, working the floor you meet a lot of celebrities, sports stars. Working the concert when A-listers are performing is pretty cool. I worked 'babysit' duty for the Houston Rockets when they came to stay. I've met a lot of people at work, in other departments, that I'll be friends with forever. Plenty of overtime opportunities. I've made a lot of memories, my graveshift manager, Mallory, is by far, the coolest boss I've ever worked under.

    Cons

$10.25 for security is pretty laughable when you consider all we do, and how this place would fall apart with us gone. It's 90% so many officers quit or call out as they please.

    Advice to Management

We deserve to get paid more than $10/hr. for as much as we take care of, as well as the amount of BS we put up with. Make sure that the next shift relieves on time if we're not staying over.
