    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Golden Peanut as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Golden has great people and the work is not too difficult.

    Cons

They hire everyone as a contract employee initially. Some are hired right away into the company. Some have to wait forever, with no hire date in site.

    Advice to Management

Make sure you are very clear on when an employee will be hired. Stringing them along with false hope of permanent employment is not cool.

I worked at Golden Peanut full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Even though part of a giant company, it still some how managed to maintain its smaller company culture and roots which the customers really appreciate

    Cons

Corporate culture flowed down from IL, not really compatible with the underlying culture associated with a business engaged with the peanut growers

    Pros

When I first started, most of the employees were nice and caring. The company felt like family! In the last three years, when upper management changed, everyone started throwing each other under the bus to save themselves.

    Cons

There's no potential for growth, especially with the hiring of upper management in the last few years. Senior management started hiring their buddies from previous jobs at higher pay and start layingoff the old employees or forcing them to retire. Hopefully, with the ADM takeover, this will prevent good employees from being forced out!

    Advice to Management

Don't forget the field employees and the employees at the corporate office. They might not have higher education or degrees but they are the reason Golden Peanut is still in this industry. New management should respect ALL employees and not look down on them.

    Pros

Family oriented environment and benefits are excellent.

    Cons

    Good ole boys environment
    ERP is quite manual

    Advice to Management

Communicate more with all staff members. Identify the weak contributors and adjust compensation or work load accordingly to prevent animosity among team members.
