    Approves of CEO

I worked at Golder Associates full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

As a group of individuals, talented and very pleasant. Lovely. Which is why the Cons section is hard to write. New CEO is a thoroughbred, and external and may just sort the company out. Restructuring and a trimming of the fat is underway. The company still has a lot of potential for excellence and great people, albeit very stressed.

    Cons

As an organisation - poor. Worst career move of my life. In truth. I am now much more critical and cynical as a result. Did not do what it said on the tin. At all. If I had more sense I might have left, or called a lawyer in to aid my cause. But you want to keep the faith with these guys... til the bitter end. Inward facing, run on egos and poor ethos. Reluctance to diversify, delegate or promote talent. Unconscious...

    Advice to Management

To the remaining fat-cats... give up, leave and drive your Audi home to your nice 4 bed detached house and give the CEO and youth a chance. Times are a changing. And give the good people their dues before they leave to join the companies that innovated ahead of you.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Golder Associates full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

Plenty of opportunities for positive, innovative people with good work ethic and humility. Fantastic global networks of professionals in different areas of expertise that share ideas and experience. A strong community of principals and associates that provides a healthy balance to global and regional management.

    Cons

Generation Y can sometimes struggle. The company was founded by self starters from a by gone era. The company grew fast during the 2000s and is in transition from a small company structure to a global company structure and culture.

    Advice to Management

Have direct and honest conversations with staff re their expectations. Less arrogance and more humility in internal and external comms. But don't be afraid to tell young and some senior professionals that working 9 to 5 PM
