I have been working at Golder Associates full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Opportunity, employee ownership, competitive salary, room for growth, good progressive culture, fun people, growing client base, awesome work life balance, employee events

    Cons

Not the best at integrating new employees into processes, engineers aren't the best to work no matter what company, new CEO so company is going through changes

I have been working at Golder Associates full-time for more than a year

    Pros

401k automatically adds X%, and will match an additional X% of what you invest. Comp time is nice. The atmosphere is amazing! People are happy with their jobs.

    Cons

Salary is well below average for environmental engineers, health insurance is nothing special. Overtime is only straight time or comp time. No company phone compensation, even for field employees.

    Advice to Management

I have no major complaints, I enjoy the work I am doing.

I worked at Golder Associates full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

Technically competent colleagues and easy access to decision makers. Bonus paid on Company performance and based on stock ownership. Lots of flexibility and able to pursue work that interested you at times.

    Cons

The company has a very male centrist environment with few exceptions. Male colleagues were frequently promoted over females with far more educational background and years of experience. Women who were bold enough to challenge the system were not promoted and forced into leaving. No maternity leave. Below average pay for engineering work. Often had non-business folks trying to run the business side of things, and the...

    Advice to Management

Diversify the workforce, and have business folks running the offices, and let the technical experts run the projects.

    I worked at Golder Associates

    Pros

Interesting and high quality technical work. Good opportunities for travel and good level of compensation overall. Good reputation. Great field work.

    Cons

Culture shift and economic downturn caused some major changes in company culture. Have tried to keep wages down in recent years to detriment of moral.

    I worked at Golder Associates

    Pros

Employee owned, great colleagues, opportunities to work and travel all over the world (if you're motivated to chase the opportunities). An opportunity to do very high quality work with talented colleagues. Fair treatment of employees.

    Cons

Many people have left since 2014, some as a result of restructuring and downsizing. Many others have left voluntarily, I expect as a result of the tense atmosphere and perceived lack of future opportunities.

    Advice to Management

You are losing many talented people - you're going to have to convince people that Golder still has the heart it once had if you want the rest to stay. Golder has a great history, and I hope you're able to keep the heart of the company alive.

I worked at Golder Associates for more than 6 years

    Pros

Very serious company, compromised with local laws, clients and staff. Amazing excellent technical professionals and experts all over the word.

    Cons

As each office can has your own autonomy, which can be a very good point, but also the one I have worked couldn't properly expand their business because of amateur management in consequence their staff couldn't get a real good opportunity to grown up.

    Advice to Management

Only for the office I have worked: improve their relations with their own employees, carful to don't be overbearing. Excellent improvements can come from your own team.

I worked at Golder Associates full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

-Great manager, interesting work, great colleagues -Even during economic downturn, compassion was mostly kept for employees

    Cons

-Upper management did not really understand how to grow a consulting business work -Eliminate business development staff, but didn't have Principals and Associates truly help project managers drive work in new, untouched sectors

    Advice to Management

Golder had the technical staff and good PMs to do the work. The missing part of the equation was marketing in a world where work no longer lands on one's lap and where work from Key Accounts is not enough to sustain growth.
