I have been working at Golder Associates full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good hours, good atmosphere, higher quality of employment than a lot of smaller companies that do the same thing

    Cons

Pay is bad, advancement opportunities are almost non existent, Project Managers love to lay blame on others, don't seem all that involved,

    Advice to Management

Care more about your employee retention, there's a reason why everyone is leaving.

I have been working at Golder Associates full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Lots of hours. Opportunities abroad.

    Cons

Company does not care about workers. Raises are minimal, and work expectations very high

    Advice to Management

Give people a raise once in a while! Maybe caring about the lower level employees would help too.

I have been working at Golder Associates full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The quality of work is excellent at the moment with a culture of high technical integrity and client satisfaction. Generally very little overtime since a culture of work hard at work and work to a high quality first time with little wasted effort.

    Cons

Career development prospects reach a ceiling at senior level with little succession planning. Pay is average. Small office so need to be adaptable to dynamic work demands.

I worked at Golder Associates full-time

    Pros

Worked with very smart people, up to date on everything, interesting projects. Some schedule flexibility.

    Cons

Can be a lot of travel. Tendency for junior staff to get stuck doing the same tasks for a given senior person unofficially, rather than rotating through available work. Pay might be a little on the low side for the industry.

    Advice to Management

Good job, but don't forget that junior staff are there to help and support, but don't have the same responsibilities as senior staff.

"NO longer a good place to work"

    StarStarStarStarStar
Current Employee - Accounts Payable Specialist in Atlanta, GA

I have been working at Golder Associates full-time

      Pros

ability to work independently without micromanaging

      Cons

Used to be a good company to work for but has went down hill. They no longer care about or value their employees. The changes in management caused a lot of disorganization and turnover.

I have been working at Golder Associates

        Pros

Good projects and exposure for young engineers. Learn marketable skills fast.

        Cons

Senior leadership is impossible to replace due to ownership model.

        Advice to Management

Consider paying higher to attract senior talent. There is a brain drain that will eventually harm the company.

I have been working at Golder Associates full-time for more than 3 years

        Pros

Opportunity to work on interesting projects.

        Cons

Low pay, awful benefits, unable to retain experienced staff, bonuses mostly a disincentive, poor work life balance

        Advice to Management

Pay people more money. Associate heavy, and are all long-time employees, thus making up below average salaries through large stock dividend payouts. This means you're unable to attract outside talent with >10 years experience and retain anyone who's joined with more than 5-years experience. The result is graduate hires only and the constant brain drain. Associates aren't affected by the low pay and terrible benefits...

I have been working at Golder Associates full-time

        Pros

        * Learning curve is high * Interesting projects * Smart colleagues * Great space in Mississauga * Great professional experience for those early in their career

        Cons

        * Open space for those that find it challenging to work with noise * Managers/senior leads that do not take responsibility, and let those below them take the heat for something that has gone array * Poor behavior that would have lawsuits in another industry but is tolerated at an engineering company (eg. like being yelled at). It increases stress levels and does not get the best out of teams. * I worked 60+ hours

        Advice to Management

        * Culture eats strategy for breakfast. Make sure that the work environment is safe and respectful (eg. which means that employees are not being yelled). Leaders need to be hired because they excel in communication and leadership.
