I worked at Golder Associates full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

    The people I worked with.

    Cons

Found glass door too late, observed I was making 20k less than the lowest reported salary for my position. Felt ignored over the years, asking for certain training, constantly told next year, next year. watched new employees get said training within a year of hire. Got pigeonholed too. Healthcare is high deductible 20/80 without any out of pocket max i believe, making it unaffordable for junior staff with families....

I worked at Golder Associates full-time for more than 9 years

    Pros

Was a great place to work with great opportunity. Decent health care. Flexible schedule. Great experience for junior staff that can multi task

    Cons

Company went downhill quickly. The people at the helm ran it into the ground and the fix was to drive faster. The new CEO seems to be caning house and competent people are leaving at an alarming rate. Junior staff are piled on as the junior to senior staff is greatly inverted. 1to 4 in my early years

    Advice to Management

No sure the management can right the ship. Sell now while you still have some value

I worked at Golder Associates full-time

    Pros

It was a good company. Nice people.

    Cons

They are gutting themselves with layoffs. The new CEO seems to be driving down share price and cutting staff. Is it to prepare for a take-over? Moral is now in the toilet.

I have been working at Golder Associates

    Pros

Excellent technical quality and resources. If you are doing well they leave you alone to do you own thing. If you can collaborate with the right people on projects Golder provides a superior quality work product to clients. Some of the best I've seen from any consulting and engineering company.

    Cons

Terrible health plan, P&A leadership model has sold us down the river. Private stock collapsed and I've lost over 50K in money designated for retirement. I don't even know who to blame but they are circling the wagons now. They brought in a new CEO and I can't understand what he is doing, the reorganization makes no sense unless he is going to break us up and sell us,

    Advice to Management

Start being honest with employees about where we are going, don't hide behind "vision" plans and discussions of "culture" that mean nothing. Which markets we should be pursuing and how are we going to get there is what management should define, show some leadership not pretty power points and think you've done your job. I am very disappointed in senior management and feel deceived. Eight years ago when I joined I really...

I have been working at Golder Associates full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Gives great project opportunities and training to entry employees who want to work hard and put in the time. Very health and safety oriented and very laid back when it comes to employees work schedule.

    Cons

Company has had a difficult year globally and is transitioning to a new CEO with a new attitude on running the company.

I have been working at Golder Associates for more than 9 years

    Pros

Flexibility to pursue opportunities and markets I'm interested in. Dynamic, highly technical team that does some really impressive work. Great client relationships. I've been able to travel internationally for work and worked on international projects from the comfort of my office. Very reasonable expectations of workload compared to the other consulting firms I've worked for. So I've had a lot better work-life balance...

    Cons

None. I really enjoy the people I work with. We have had some people let go from underperforming markets, but the future is bright and we have some great projects I'm working on right now. Our new CEO is very inspirational. Can't wait to see what the future brings.

    Advice to Management

Clients want more Golder services. I've been getting more work from clients telling others to use Golder.

I worked at Golder Associates full-time

    Pros

Company used to be a great place to work 5+ years ago. Hopefully they can sort themselves out.

    Cons

To be blunt, this is not somewhere you want to work. The recent internal health and safety survey results were unbelievable. I have never seen such a negative response to safety and the a truly toxic work environment. People are so stressed they were reporting breakdowns and not wanting to come to work. They really do not care about people and are truly ruthless with cutting staff whenever there is a dip in profits....

    Advice to Management

Take a long hard look at what has happened to the company. Really think if this is what sort of a workplace you want to be. Hisham need to go. You let him buy too much and now he has a huge vested interest in generating short term profits at the expense of long term sustainability. People don't like working at Golder anymore. Nobody smiles or even says hi to anyone in the corridors anymore. The place is toxic. It used...

    Pros

There is no better place to work when it comes to diversity of work. You'll be in the company of a lot of very smart colleagues. Things are changing, but this is giving people many opportunities to shine

    Cons

The company is just finished the first full year of a new CEO who is transforming the company, which is causing a lot of upheaval. Many of the changes need to happen, but the speed is hard for many to handle and it is stressful.

    Advice to Management

Communicate more about the change. Changing the title of managers to leaders doesn't work if those people aren't actually acting like leaders.
