I worked at Goldman Sachs full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good for learning about markets, derivatives trading, core corporate skillset and good benfits (if you actually manage to use them)

    Cons

Terrible culture. Not a team environment, individualistic/competitive and it feels at times that people dont want you to succeed. Obviously very long hours and on a case by case basis some senior people are really harassing/bullying juniors.

    Advice to Management

If you want to attract top talent from the best schools etc, GS really needs a better culture. People from Ivy leagues do have a lot other great opportunities and frankly comp is the same elsewhere. So unless people feel supported and respected they wont stay.

But then again it is very clear that GS doesnt care about juniors cause it is evident analysts are seen as expendible.

Long term this is not sustainable

    Pros

    - some decent teams and projects in the firm
    - lots of smart people to learn from and network with
    - renewed focus on open source and community engagement

    Cons

    - politics!
    - doesn't pay younger analysts all that well

I worked at Goldman Sachs as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Strongest brand in the sector with extreme name recognition.
High levels of professionalism - People respond earnestly to requests and questions and never do things halfways

    Cons

Often dull. Very 'siloed' in respect of work-load. Made all the worst by the long hours and face-time expectations. Otherwise just a very standard corporate atmosphere which is demotivating

    Advice to Management

Change the structure of the workplace. Think from bottom-up and what really good analysis would look like, and where it'd come from.
