I worked at Goldman Sachs as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Strong brand name, overall helpful culture, good buddy/mentor system.

    Cons

Extreme working hours and face-timing, especially within IBD. GS culture is strong, but false people are also hiding behind it, pretending to be helpful and honest, and then backstabbing you.

I have been working at Goldman Sachs full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great training to develope entrepreneurs. Like getting your MBA while actually doing the job. Very talented people to learn from.

    Cons

Career progression can be tricky. The firm should continue to focus on diversity. Especially where there is room for improvement - ethnic diverse.

    Advice to Management

Continue to work towards inclusion and fully understand and embrace diversity within diversity.

I worked at Goldman Sachs full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I really enjoyed the people in my team. With GS you're bound to interact with intelligent, motivated people. I also enjoyed how easy it was to schedule a meeting or walk into the office of my division ED or MD. One-on-ones every two weeks and a clear review system. GS employees work hard and play hard. Good salary too and great location. Great benefits too.

    Cons

Sometimes the promotions in the team were unfair. People with the 'gift of the gab' got promoted over people that were actually doing the work. Also sometime very mundane tasks -but that varies by division.

    Advice to Management

Great work so far -- nut more work needs to be done around assessment for promotion

I worked at Goldman Sachs full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great firm to work for. Very meritocratic and proactivity is key to doing well. Smaller teams therefore exposed to variety of work. Systems very good.

    Cons

Work load can be excessive at times and there may be resource constraints. Lack of mentoring available. Lot of change currently in place.

    Advice to Management

Develop better mentoring. Hiring more staff during peak times and try to reduce high staff turnover. Increase efficiency of systems.

I worked at Goldman Sachs as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

The strong name/brand. Surrounded by ambitious colleagues.

    Cons

Micro-management. Bureaucracy. Long hour culture, but not efficient within those hours.
