    Pros

Great company culture--everyone is happy to help and chat. You are very much encouraged to get to know other parts of the business during your internship. Was provided with real work that mattered and made a difference in the company which was nice seeing as I was an intern.

    Cons

Long working hours and the operations division does not get paid too well considering the hours required.

I have been working at Goldman Sachs full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Recruit top industry talent and encourage a diverse community throughout the globe. Strong analyst and associate programs with market training. Many opportunities for position changes. Great health benefits and retirement matching.

    Cons

Long work hours, lack of work life balance. The more senior you get the less feedback you receive (outside yearly peer reviews).

I have been working at Goldman Sachs full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay. Good insurance. The office location is downtown so there are plenty of places nearby for lunch. Flexible schedule (i.e. Able to come early/leave early, etc.)

    Cons

You're expected to work long hours. It is difficult to get recognition. If GS is not your life it is hard to move up.

I have been working at Goldman Sachs (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Decent Comp
    - Brand Name
    - Intelligent coworkers
    - Good benefits
    - Recent positive improvements to the internal mobility platform

    Cons

Operations work for the most part is mind numbing and repetitive. People are used as patches for the processes that haven't yet been automated. This leads to daily work that doesn't build any transferable skills. What knowledge you do manage to build is usually rooted in the technical aspect of the firms system, and will eventually become obsolete once they roll out a system update.

Depending on your managers compensation and promotions can be very closely tied to office politics. It is almost impossible to stand out as a high performer through your daily work alone. Which means that a lot of analyst spend time doing useless project work on top of the daily work load just to get recognition from senior managers.

I think GS can be a great place to work if you are in a different division but would recommend people avoid ops at all costs.

    Advice to Management

Lloyd is a straight shooter with a hell of a golf swing. Grip it and rip it.
