I worked at Goldman Sachs full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Goldman's culture is really top notch, that I haven't seen anywhere else is like that. The training program is great if you join as a new analyst.

    Cons

I think everyone talks about the long hours if you works at Goldman. That's one major cons of working at Goldman, but then you get used to it.

    Advice to Management

I think my time could have been more efficient in a way that I don't have to spend so much time in office.

I worked at Goldman Sachs full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

An environment centered around diversity of thought.
A myriad of opportunities to step outside your comfort zone to elicit growth and development.
    A true meritocracy
This was an experience that has shaped all subsequent opportunities in a profoundly positive way by helping me cultivate skill sets I was unaware I possess and challenging my patterns of thought.

    Cons

The same intensity that drove my positive experience can be a double edge sword. I found it easy to spread oneself too thin.

    Advice to Management

Please don't ever forget, nor loose sight of your greatest capital, your people!

I have been working at Goldman Sachs as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

The best part of interning at Goldman Sachs, at least according to the reviews, is the people. Not just their talents, but more so their willingness to impart information and be a resource for interns, even if they aren’t personally running the program. Interns are quite often given “direct access” to “approachable” senior managers.

    Cons

Frankly, the most commonly listed downer was “nothing,” followed by “it’s only 10 weeks long,” but those are no fun. Other cons include the hours, which are both long and unpredictable. Most interns assumed the former was true, and were well prepared to put in the hours, but some noted being frustrated with not having a static schedule. “When it comes to your personal life…the firm comes first,” said one intern. Several former interns also complained about the cafeteria.

    Advice to Management

There is no doubt that Goldman has a rigorous selection process when recruiting employees — it’s not uncommon to have several dozen interviews before there is a hiring decision. The firm understands that it is nothing without its people.

I have been working at Goldman Sachs full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Incredibly smart, driven workforce - everybody wants to succeed.

    Cons

Working in GS operations, you get a lot of people bragging about what schools they went to; many of my co-workers come off as stuck-up and dismissive if they hear that you didn't go to a top-tier school. I felt at a slight disadvantage when I first started and had to prove my intelligence coming from a large state school.

I have been working at Goldman Sachs full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice environment, lots of opportunities, hard working coworkers, high pay, good benefits

    Cons

Stressful, over time, multiple projects, competitive environment, people do not care about each other, selfish

    Advice to Management

Pay more, treat employees better, specially the management people, coach are terrible,

I worked at Goldman Sachs as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The assign you a buddy before you start. So they have a great Buddy system.
    Great Pay
    Great corporate environment
    Social Activites

    Cons

None honestly. Although your projects might become harder depending on your team. One intern had to collaborate with his team and they were in another part of the country. So finding times to meet can be hard. But that's also a benefit because you have experience working with teams that aren't in your office

    Advice to Management

I have none. My manager also gave me weekly feedback. As an intern you have a lot of power and say as to what's happening. My manager was super encouraging, even when it came to looking at other business units within GS.

    Cons

Need to put in a lot of hours!

I worked at Goldman Sachs full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great place to work straight out college. I highly recommend staying there for a few years and grind it out.

    Cons

I think there is too much red tape and the industry is not what it used to be.

    Advice to Management

Be a bit more honest when it comes to comp talks. GS has smart people and they don't buy the bs

    Pros

Challenging work, and working along side some of the best employees. Everyone I worked with was intelligent and driven.

    Cons

Long hours, but you control your career.

    Advice to Management

Cater to millenials more, this will help attrition at the firm.
