I worked at Golf Galaxy (Less than a year)

    Pros

The manager at my particular store was an amazing boss. Always very helpful and had a wonderful business approach to keeping people in the store as well as new bringing people in.

    Cons

Hourly wage somewhat low for specific area

    Advice to Management

Change the logo on all storefronts. While all the letterheads included the new logo, many people thought we were mini golf.

    Pros

Very nice management and staff, not overwhelmed during your shift, get to talk about golf all the time. Very well organized.

    Cons

Most of the part time employees are limited to 13-15 hours a week, excluding holiday season which is more, no commission on sales, usually working closing shifts to start. Huge store and a lot of merchandise which they expect you to know and be able to sell which can be difficult. Unless you are true golf equipment of course. Shifts are usually 4-5 hours. Being on the feet on the hard surface all day can be hard. Left job mostly because of the lack of hours. You get the schedule on friday night for the upcoming week, which can be difficult to work with if you got a second job. Busiest during the holiday season, which sucks to work on holidays.

    Advice to Management

Provide more information about the different equipment to the employees. Give the employees more hours or an easier way to get a second job, like set shifts. Try to give more early shifts to new people so they don't always close.

I worked at Golf Galaxy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I took this job after graduating from high school and enjoyed it before I started college in the fall
    -Customer interaction
-Being able to talk about golf all day long
    -Fun work environment
-Ability to advance in the store if you are good at sales

    Cons

    -pay could have been higher
-a lot of the training videos were pointless and did not really teach anything
-company focuses a lot on inventory loss management instead of employees

    Advice to Management

I feel like management was never really focusing too much on the employees. I just felt like a worker who could be replaced by anyone else who likes talking about golf. They should implement some corporate bonding activities for employees.
