Mar 13, 2023 - Hyperbaric Technician in Los Gatos, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Good team of people, if comfortable in the work responsibilities given a fair amount of autonomy.
Cons
Rigid bureaucracy in upper management, as is common in hospital systems. They laid important and experienced middle management off for cost-cutting without having a competent replacement in place at the time. They just pulled a manager from a different dept and added it to their work.

Pros
The building has Air Conditioning
Cons
Bad workplace culture, a large focus on being present for specific quotas compared to preventing issues that could delay patient care Bad management of departments, management took a ‘stick and stick’ approach to leading Bad investigation and resolution of issues and concerns, every rung of the totem pole will only hear the complaining side even with evidence Sub-par patient care, even on slower floors can take >1hr+ to see a staff member

Terrible place to work. Owned by corporation. Understaffing, Toxic environment Poor management.
Dec 10, 2022 - Clinical Laboratory Scientist II in San Jose, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I learned a lot during the earlier days. Pay is comparable to outside. Benefits are decent. High amount of PTO after so many years of service. Nice Co-workers.
Cons
No pension plan, Bad, nasty management. High turnover. Not being heard. Remote Corporation making decision from Las Vegas. High stress. Poorly staffed. Being forced to work extra shifts. No positive reinforcement. Not spending time and money in cross training. Toxic environment and high volume. Being flexed when the volume is down. Not respecting seniority and expertise. Not approving PTO due to poor staffing level. Unapproachable management.

Stay Away From HCA and Health Trust
Nov 14, 2022 - StaRN Plus Registered Nurse II CVICU in San Jose, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The current Staff Nurses in the CVICU were forthcoming about the fact that HCA and Health Trust lie, abuse, and discard staff and the CVICU at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose is a dead end job where people wait to retire or simply collect a paycheck. Based on their honesty, I was able to quickly start applying to other employers.
Cons
Health Trust and HCA lied to me about giving me a training position that would prepare me for CVICU, ie open heart surgery patients. I turned down 2 legitimate ICU training positions for the CVICU training position they promised me. The position wound up being for Step Down and Telemetry level patients in a poorly managed CVICU and hospital with an antiquated EMR system called Medetech that is based on DOS from the 1970s.

Good Job Until Hospital Got Cheap
Nov 29, 2022 - Lab Asst. Tech II in San Jose, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Lab management was fair as long as you do your job and are professional.
