stop focusing on the number for sales equation that were made over a decade ago and focus on the emplyees and their workload and happiness. if your employees are happy your customers will be too.

I have been working at Goodwill part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Helping persons in the community is great. You receive mileage reimbursement for your travel. Supportive staff and supervisor is always reachable. There is room for growth within he agency.

    Cons

No real cons that I've experienced. The pay could be a little better for the work being done. Supervisors are always available if you're having an issue at your assigned work site or issue with a consumer.

    Advice to Management

Pay could be better, but otherwise the agency provides great services. I haven't had any issues with management, or issues while serving as a Job Coach.

I worked at Goodwill full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Awesome co workers, 3 breaks and it's a good job for people in school or people that barely have any bills.

    Cons

The hours you get drop when there isn't enough sales. As a full timers I was told I would get 40 hrs and I was barely getting 30 every week.

Some expectations are unrealistic - like getting the entire stored recovered but there is only 3 people closing & customers are in after 8:00.

    Advice to Management

Set realistic goals, warn workers ahead of time that hours could fluctuate drastically, give directions without being snobby, and stop gossiping about employees while in front of other people.

I worked at Goodwill full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Meet a lot of interesting people! Find out about a lot of interesting items people donate. Decent benefits and starting out pay!

    Cons

Not enough hours scheduled to get the work done. Full time employee should get more than 33-34 hours a week. Manger plays favorites to certain employees who get more hours and do less work. A lot of contact with items that people should not be donating.

    Advice to Management

Schedule more people to get the work done, and stop playing favorites to certain people. It does help the morale of the other employees.

I have been working at Goodwill full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great mon-fri hours, health insurance, vacation & sick time. Office workers have a little more freedom than the instructional aides, but management tries to accomadate. OK pay. You feel like you make a difference in lives.

    Cons

Not really room for advancement. Hardly any pay raises, even with minimum wage increase. Some managers add more "duties" that arent technically your job/ run you down & stress. Dont feel important at times, except to the DDA clients.

    Advice to Management

Pay raises. Stop comparing sites to other sites- we are all located in totally different areas with different resources.
