Great company to work for to help you get on your feet when needed. If you have the drive, they have the job. Flexible schedules and a wonderful, diverse group of people to work with. Everyday is something new.

    Cons

It's a non-profit, so the pay is low in comparison to relative job positions.

I worked at Goodwill full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working here you will get in shape quick with all the trucks you will load and unload daily, but that's ok you get to see where the good stuff goes. Plus they have a sale for employees and people in their training classes to take part in. Great sale good stuff just not able to sale it in store.

    Cons

Stealing! I watched several of my coworkers pocket things off the trucks and some of the upper management as well.

    Advice to Management

Don't breath down your employees necks like you don't trust them because they will steal from you because you don't trust them.

I worked at Goodwill part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great customers, wonderful team spirit, predictable number of hours to be worked each week, within driving distance, liked the mission statement.

    Cons

Different schedule every week, often didn't get off work on time, worked short handed, manager played favorites, yearly evaluations not awarded timely.

    Advice to Management

Spend time in store reviewing performance of manager, interview employees for input into overall job satisfaction, the bottom line isn't always number one.

    Pros

GISD is very "mission-focused" serving its local communities; they highly value its employees (aka, "Ambassadors"); I found the atmosphere almost family-like...seems like virtually everyone has genuine interests in one another yet not clique-like or phony.

    Cons

It is likely attributable to its non-profit status and niche areas of business that growth/advancement opportunities are much more limited than many for-profit, growth-centered businesses.

    Advice to Management

Keep the great employee interest and focus that you have ---BUT: Don't Coast ! 'Continuous Improvement' must be the mantra of all supervisors and managers.
