I have been working at Goodyear Dunlop Tires full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great brand. Brand initiates interest and peaks interest into your product/service offering. Level of support depends greatly on your assigned location. Laid back environment, no micromanaging.

    Cons

Poor Support. No real training or insight from incumbents provided. Managers are not necessarily trained to facilitate sales and your success and theirs are not interdependent. Eligible prospects are few and far between when you consider the quantities needed to be purchased to make this source viable for companies.

    Advice to Management

It is not possible to use a blanket strategy for all markets. Some recognition must be given to the competition.

Be polite, take care of your employees, be flexible, have a good attitude towards the people you work with, show respect.

I worked at Goodyear Dunlop Tires full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very hard to get fired. Pay was decent, was able to surf for my next job while sitting at my desk.

    Cons

Very poor plant management, everyone distrusted each other. Every time a machine broke or shift target wasn't met, the goal was to
find someone to blame or yell at, instead of trying to fix anything. Everyone was clearly only out for themselves, and management would actively push the boundaries of the union contract - I was management; we would celebrate union grievances as successes. Toxic environment.

    Advice to Management

Your salary-staff turnover rate sucks because of how you treat people.

I have been working at Goodyear Dunlop Tires full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Goodyear offers some of the best products on the market and has a name that stands alone. Positive brand recognition helps when trying to establish new customers .

    Cons

The down side to sales is the instability of the market. There is so much competition with foreign brand product it can be very challenging to meet goals. The company doesn't consider market changes to be able to reflect current sales situations.

    Advice to Management

The required sales goals that are required to be met should be a living document and have the ability to be changed based on companies going out of business or a change in buying procedures. Numbers are based on previous sales however the customers are always changing.

I worked at Goodyear Dunlop Tires full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good pay for the job. Great benefits.

    Cons

The company tends to reward those that just do what they "need to do" for the day. Those that far exceed expectations don't even get a simple "thank you." Work environment is usually not a very clean environment which is easily noticeable upon entering the facility. There are no raises unless you are in a management position. This company, like most others at this time, are only concerned with ways to lower the pay for individuals and not with moral, health, and well being of their workers. I worked for this company for 17 years and watched it go downhill the day Sumatoma rubber sold the Dunlop brand to Goodyear. Before Goodyear owned it, nearly every car in the parking lot had Dunlop tires on them and the people were treated good. Now drive through the parking lot and not even half the vehicles have their own product on them. Benefits, pay, and employee appreciation went through the floor.

    Advice to Management

Learn from the way Dunlop was ran BEFORE you bought the company. Most importantly, listen to your people... The ones actually doing the work...
