    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Pay is decent, good communication of new programs and goals .

    Cons

Poor leadership, lack of concern for employees well being, goals change almost weekly, bonus program changed frequently to make it almost impossible to earn, employees are laid off at the slightest hint of a downturn in sales, unrealistic expectations of what it take to run a retail location, management has no automotive retail knowledge, middle management is hired from outside the company instead of promoted from within, input from retail staff is ignored, new programs are poorly rolled out, raises are few and far between if at all, buildings and equipment are allowed to fall into a state of disrepair due to a lack of a repair/upkeep budget.

    Advice to Management

Your employees are your best asset, try to hold on to them.

    Pros

    The compensation is very competitive.
    The benefits are affordable.
    Paid overtime for area managers.
Since most companies are oblivious, it looks good to have on your resume.

    Cons

    Forced overtime.
    Little to no positive reinforcement.
    Very unprofessional work environment.
    No work/life balance.
Horrible shift lineup forcing each shift to work weekends.

    Advice to Management

Treat you employees with more respect.
Hire enough managers to avoid forcing overtime and burning out the ones that you do have.
Quit cutting salary benefits every time you fail at cutting union benefits.

I worked at Goodyear full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Free uniforms
    Use of a company vehicle.
Company supply's safety gear and training.

    Cons

Hours are lousy with 24 hours on call and are expected to work dangerously tired.
Management refuses to listen to employees.
Management is quick to blame and have anger issues.
Management tries to push out employees who they do not like.
The quality of the recap tires is dangerously bad.
Management like to clamp down on overtime and send you out on a big job 40 unit fleet check by yourself and expect it done within an hour.

    Advice to Management

The quality of the shop is horrible and the lack of attention to safety and common sense is appalling. Someone from corporate should conduct a surprise visit to this shop and inspect it and have a talk to the satellite/service manager, he is the biggest problem.

I worked at Goodyear full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Starting salaries are very competitive. Above average job security.

    Cons

Middle management is very ineffective. The company gets very caught up in management and organizational fads and slogans. Its Technical Organization uses a matrix structure that is very confusing. Middle management has created a culture that does not accept employee opinions that differ from their own. The company rarely removes poor performers, and this is very damaging to morale. Payroll, benefits, and recruiting functions have been outsourced to another company, and this has really hurt employee services.

    Advice to Management

The company needs a new direction.
