I worked at Google (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great salary.
    Great benefits.
    Great food.
    Great location.
    Some really great people.

    Cons

Don't expect to see great code. Expect a mess which everyone is struggling to understand, caused by fast pace, rapid turnover, and some really spectacular bad past design decisions that make things very hard to trace, but are now deeply embedded, and would be very hard to remove. Having said that, if this is your thing, great, they will reward you handsomely to help keep them afloat.
Company is extremely PC. But you already knew that.
Apparently, surveillance of personal email/networks. I can't prove it but I was creeped out too many times.

    Advice to Management

Slow down. Build a stable team. Stop hiring physicists. Hire experienced fin-tech people.

I have been working at Google full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The compensation, benefits and perks are unbelievable compared to most companies this size.
The work is interesting, challenging and appropriately scoped.
Opportunities to grow and move around are easy to find.

    Cons

Deadline pressure can sometimes appear. Product requirements don't always allow for perfect engineering practices. Really though, I think these are problems you'll find at any ambitious internet company.

    Cons

You need to catch on quick... but what tech company don't you need to do that for.

I worked at Google as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The Boulder office is a tight-knit group of passionate, empathic people. Good pay. Good people. Good food. Reasonable working hours.
Only breakfast and lunch are served at the Boulder office, which is one of the things that makes the Boulder office so relaxed. It doesn't seem like people feel the need to stay until the late hours of the night, although you're totally welcome to if you like. Just do your work, get along with your coworkers, and everyone is happy.

    Cons

Sometimes the work was too interesting, and my coffee would become cold before I could drink it.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up

I worked at Google as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The atmosphere is wonderful: collaborative, open, experimental. The work-life balance is emphasized, and working over is recognized well. The work is interesting, my host was very patient, helpful, and made the internship very worth while. Plus the food and microkitchens are fantastic; great stocks.

    Cons

I interned in the Boulder office, only about 350 large at the time. A distributed office does not have the same scale and opportunity for office culture, activities, people, etc. Returning, this is the only consideration I might have. The community is not as young as I expected; many employees lived the family life.

    Advice to Management

The office director finished an ironman, just though that was awesome.

    Advice to Management

More transparency around career path opportunities and lateral moves between teams.

    Pros

Benefits and culture are the absolute best. Challenging others theories is welcomed and you're graded entirely on performance.

    Cons

Can sometimes have the "big company" feel where you're individual impact can seem overshadowed.
