I worked at Google as an intern

    Pros

The people are super friendly and nice. People are willing to help you succeed if you demonstrate your ability and desire.

    Cons

Sometimes the office can get pretty quite. People are working on their own thing wherever they'd like so you can see the office quite empty at times.

I worked at Google as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Great perks, amazing products to work on, people that will make you grow, and rewarding work.

    Cons

Google is a big company, you might not get a product you like, but even then it isn't the end of the world.

There isn't a lot of pressure to move fast, if you want to set deadlines for yourself and your team, then it'll be hard because of how relaxed the workplace is.

I worked at Google as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great culture, great food, getting the chance to work with super smart people and meaningful projects.

    Cons

If you want to leave your mark in 3 marks you have to work super hard and long hours, and learn a ton of new tools that might not help you outside of Google that much.

I worked at Google (More than a year)

    Pros

Very flexible and relaxed workplace. As long you get your work done, there are no hard deadlines or people looking over your shoulder.

    Cons

The pace is slower than at a smaller company, which makes sense. There is a rigorous code review process, etc., to maintain quality.

I worked at Google as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Relaxed culture, capable and helpful full-time engineers, and you will feel pampered. The pay is good, and the people are friendly.

    Cons

It's for an older crowd. You will feel lazy, and the work is not motivating. The relaxed culture is bittersweet. If you're young and ready to work hard, this place is probably not for you. The company hires some of the best engineers in the world to work on small projects that will likely be scrapped.

    Advice to Management

There might be some lessons to learn from "startup culture." In a startup, ad projects are scrapped quickly, and the work is more meaningful. I think that Google is only attracting a certain type of talent -- the kind of talent that wants to be told what to do -- with its culture.
