    Pros

Its famous, its been "best employer" for 2 years now !

    Cons

    Lots !
    1. We only say that we have free food, and all other crap, how does it help me as a person ?
    2. Peers are arrogant, and i have seen its like stanford etc are great .. (ps i am from stanford too though), but the general attitude around is like every other place is bad ..
    3. recruitment process is not good, though i did get it due to my background, i dont think they see skillsets, they see only background.
    4. An air of arrogance ...
    5. Too competitive -- good for people who have nothing better in life except work ! (yes sort of geeks .. and geeks SUCK isnt it ..)

    Advice to Management

Get down to earth and stop thinking you are GOD !

    Pros

One of the best experiences in my life, nothing can or probably will come to these few years of my life at Google.

    Cons

Lack of proper work life balance, deadlines! deadlines! deadlines! Conference calls can be weird times of the day, but overall satisfying.

    Advice to Management

Schedule conference call at more decent hours of the days
    Feedback could be better received
    Pay be made more competitive

    Pros

Food. I think I have gained about 15 pounds since I have been here :)

    Cons

People here don't know how to program.

    Advice to Management

Purge the ranks. Get people who actually get stuff done, not be whimsical all day working on projects that don't matter to the bottom line.

I have been working at Google full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Free food, great hardware, cool campus, amazing benefits

    Cons

Unless you are a SWE you should not work at Google. Lots of red tape and a complete lack of regard for dogfooder feedback

    Advice to Management

Google promotes the wrong people over and over, while the good managers are not rewarded. very sad.

The job is good, food is good, money is okay. It is a great place to start your career since the company is so reputable.

I have been working at Google full-time

    Pros

Great benefits, smart people, interesting challenges, great brand.

    Cons

If you get stuck with a bad manager, in a chain of people who aim to protect that person, good luck.

    Low base salary.

    Very hard to advance.

Some groups can be very political.

    Advice to Management

Get serious about insisting on having great managers. Managers who have proven themselves incapable of great management (or even good or neutral management) should be dealt with accordingly, not protected.
