    Pros

Very relaxing environment and has good perk. The pay is not bad. There are many interesting technology with comprehensive document that I can learn in the company.

    Cons

The development velocity is slow. The compilation and starting server takes a long time. Each team works on a small bit thing just like any big company.

I have been working at Google full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great culture, investment in employees, concern for overall well being and and very data driven approach to everything. I am constantly learning and surrounded by very intelligent people who want to help others succeed.

    Cons

Not many cons, filling up minimum words here to meet the requirement. The free food can get old. Can only eat seared Tuna and steak so many times.

    Advice to Management

Advice to the kitchen staff is to keep it fresh with constant rotation of dishes, more bbq chicken, better salad bar options, maybe some better sushi.

I have been working at Google full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

People, perks, salary, benefits. One of the top payers around and lots of flexibility in benefits and work schedule. Have had many great managers

    Cons

Little room to grow, long hours. Feels very much like a big company now and your contributions can feel insignificant

    Advice to Management

Continue to be transparent. Invest in employees

I have been working at Google full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Perks, flexible schedule, interesting projects

    Cons

Working on projects at the scale Google does is challenging, and working with the existing infrastructure can be difficult.

I have been working at Google full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great salary & stock options, decent food and other perks.

    Cons

Constantly reorging, lot's of pressure for promotion, sweatshop for designers, terrible commute if you don't live in Mountain View.

    Advice to Management

Invest in SF office, hire more designers. "Scrappy teams" just results in rush jobs, lower quality work and no work life balance.

I have been working at Google full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    * Job opportunities internal
    * Perks that take worries away (food, gym, insurance, doctors onsite, parental leave, annual leave)
    * Overall pretty smart people

    Cons

    * Snake pit in terms of internal politics and promotions
    * Business is growing so fast organic, individual impact unclear (=unsatisfying)
    * Almost nobody actually cares about the job they were hired for, mostly focused on getting promotions, visibility project, impressing management

    Advice to Management

Dive into the 'successes' and 'wins' of your sales people, 99% of the time they're actually just organic and no driven by good sales behaviours. People are spending their time on finding and writing success stories instead of actual working.

I have been working at Google as a contractor

    Pros

    • Loads of smart people
    • Interesting projects and problems

    Cons

    • As a contractor, the "caste" system at Google was very disturbing

    Advice to Management

Allow teams to work together collaboratively, regardless of badge color

I have been working at Google full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Amazing compensation + benefits plan
    Great hours
    Generally easy to perform

    Cons

Besides the obvious (having to eat grass), I really dislike how I'm only allowed to stay within the courtyard during all business hours.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work! You have taught me a lot in my time here.
