I worked at Google (Less than a year)

    Pros

Opportunities to work with brilliant minds. Team full of impeccable role models. Surrounded by ego-less, skilled professionals who also know how to have fun! All the famous perks.

    Cons

Nothing that I think would be standard across many people's experiences. I wasn't a fan of MTV and found the entire Bay Area dreadful. Being one of the few interns in my building and the only intern on my team, I had some trouble finding other interns to bond with.

I worked at Google as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

They treat their employees very well, and the work culture is very laid back and free, while stressing excellence and efficiency.

    Cons

Sometimes I felt a bit lost due to the sheer scale of the company and the dynamic of my particular team (we were somewhat less social than other teams).

    Advice to Management

Take care of your interns! Keep up to date with them beyond just their work, and encourage them (even more!) to seek out other interns, older mentors, and other social and professional growth opportunities.

I worked at Google as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

I was an intern at the Cambridge office and had a great time -- tons of perks like free food, massage points, an espresso bar, etc. are available to help you be the best you can be at work. The people are great and almost always assume the best of you; I never had bad interactions or felt the need to "prove myself". You can also feel that many people do actively care about doing the right thing, not just about making money or optimizing the heck out of things.

    Cons

Because Google is so big, it is hard to feel that what you are working on has a huge impact -- in reality, not a large proportion of the work being done is of the exciting, high-impact kind -- although you could still be working on interesting, important problems.

    Advice to Management

Work on making job definitions loose enough so that employees feel empowered to find and tackle problems ranging the gamut from pedestrian to high-impact.

I worked at Google (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - So many things to learn and do.
    - Everyone really cares about what they're working on.
    - Easy to maintain a good work life balance.

    Cons

    - Many googler's often get caught up on their projects and so often don't have much of a life outside of work.

I worked at Google as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Google respects your time and treats you like an adult -- and most importantly everything just works. Would recommend to any friend.

    Cons

You're very much just a cog in a very large machine so your chance to make an outsized impact is limited. That said, it seems like you get a great deal of job security.

    Advice to Management

Keep expanding opportunities for ambitious employees to make an impact on the organization as a whole. I'd love to see lots of opportunities for startups within the company.

I worked at Google as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great mentoring. As a student, I have solid programming training in this intern job. Google's intern experience is definitely a big plus on your resume.

    Cons

Google's intern salary is not very comparative as to other company (but it should not be the major concern for an intern job).
