I worked at Gordmans full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great People and great LP team

    Cons

I hope you are ready to be LP, Stock team, cashier trainer, fitting room trainer, number fetcher, ASM, SM, janitor, and anything else they could squeeze you for.

    Advice to Management

To Managers...I do not envy you for having to put up with everything being micro managed 100 times per square foot.

    I worked at Gordmans full-time

    Pros

Fun Energetic work environment ... Overall a good experience ... Very nice and helpful HR staff

    Cons

Extremely low wage even for an experienced manager . If you are not a MOD/Shift Lead they only offer part time to cashiers ... Stock crew ... Etc. This particular location had a high turnover rate can't keep a store manager or management in general but it has been open for less than a year

    Advice to Management

You get what you pay for ... Offer a low wage expect a high turnover, a team of teenagers, and lots of no call no shows.

    Pay Up Gordmans lbvs

I worked at Gordmans part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    It was great retail experience.
    Great people.
Always hours to pick up if you wanted more.

    Cons

Store closed at 930 but we were there until 1am during back to school and holiday times.
Long hours on feet when working that late after shift

    Advice to Management

Realize that you will need people way past what's on schedule so they aren't scheduled 8 hours then actually working 12-13

I have been working at Gordmans full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It is a great place to showcase your skills, whether your communication, or your social skills or if you become full time, your merchandising skills. The company is pretty enthusiastic to let you use your merchandising and design skills to make displays, and set the merchandise out in the sales floor. Great low-key major retail chain!

    Cons

Sometimes it can be understaffed. The rude customers will ruin the enjoyment of working there. Its usually the stuck up, entitled mom with an attitude, and her horribly behaved kids running around the store tearing up the toy department.

I worked at Gordmans full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Discount. Friendly managers and coworkers. Always something to do If you have good work ethic. Freedom for creativity. Flexible hours. Great location. Fun music

    Cons

Pay. Lack of hours. Not much room for advancement. Company is in financial trouble so staffing is very slim. Good hard work goes unnoticed

    Advice to Management

Weed out the weak links. The associates who don't have good work ethic need to be disciplined.

    Pros

Good District level Management team, fun co-workers, decent employee discount.

    Cons

Very low pay for responsibilities, no vacation, no support from corporate team. Store managers walk all over and talk down to LP Agents for doing their job.

    Advice to Management

Recognize and develop talent. Create a way for Loss Prevention Agents to move up within the organization.

I have been working at Gordmans part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-getting to know the regular customers that come in
    -20% discount
    -layaway

    Cons

    -favoritism in the stores
-have to wear black even during the summer
-employees rarely get recognized for hard work or even listened to
    -co workers become like family

    Advice to Management

Take better care of your associates!!! Especially the part time ones. Doesn't seem fair that part time only get a 20% discount & full time get basically all the perks. Plus offer holiday pay & overnight pay during thanksgiving, black friday & christmas time. your associates will appreciate you more if they feel like they are being taken care of.

    Pros

The discounts were nice, There were a lot of group activities.

    Cons

We were understaffed most of the time. I worked Seasonal and at times would be the only one at guest services, They scheduled me for 40 hours a week, then fired me at the end of the year because they didn't want to start giving me benefits, and asked me to reapply in March.
