    Pros

You have a lot of freedom in your work, and great rewards for great performance. The company is focused on providing the best possible circumstance for their customers and employees and because of that they have low churn on both accounts.

    Cons

It takes time, potentially years to achieve the level of success that is expected, but you may not have long enough as an employee to get to that point, no matter what you do. And so there is high churn in limited roles.

    Advice to Management

Make sure new employees know you're all in with them and be willing to protect good workers for the long haul. Engage in more, and ongoing training programs to be sure you're developing your people over time. There needs to be greater cultivation of skilled workers.

    Pros

Supportive coworkers, decent benefits/vacation time, average pay. Good work/life balance.

    Cons

Middle and upper level management are out for themselves and have no problem back stabbing their employees or other managers/supervisors. Sales is the most important aspect of the company. If you are not in sales, you are a cog in the machine and just another number to them. I hope you like your job when you start there, because they never give out promotions and the yearly reviews are a joke. The management is only allowed to give a certain very small percentage of employees the top raise levels, so the majority of people are stuck right in the middle and are given the impression that the best you are doing is only average. They also took away everyone's Christmas bonuses and downgraded the yearly Christmas party to a pizza and soda party so they could give that money to charity, aka give themselves a nice tax write-off.

I worked at Gordon Flesch Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They paid well for an entry level business to business sales opportunity.

    Cons

Poor management, zero account base, and lack of structure for someone new to the business.

    Advice to Management

There needed to be a manager in office that had actually been successful in the city territory of Chicago.

I have been working at Gordon Flesch Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It all seems nice and friendly when you first arrive in this company.

    Cons

You realize quickly that you are expected to bring in $600K - $800K to make the money they want you to make for them. Do not be fooled there really is no salary, you get paid on a draw and without any decent house accounts unless you are incredibly fortunate it is nearly impossible for a new employee to make up anything close to what's needed. When you do make it it will be sucked back by them through what you owe them. Management favors only long term providers and attitude of one member of the Flesch family is reprehensible at the very least. Stay away from this company, its all mouth and no action, unless you are indeed using your mouth for something they might find purposeful.

    Advice to Management

Dont screw the (new) staff coming in (or otherwise) You pay a HR Director to do a job he/she can't possible perform as you rotate new staff as an excuse not to look at the obvious internal problem of your existing staff. Incredibly short- sighted and as you only continue to marginally increase your profit, you will soon see dramatic overall losses as the necessary model cannot be maintained.

I have been working at Gordon Flesch Company full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Talented team of people makes them a top company in their industry. Financially sound. Excellent customer service and sterling reputation in the marketplace. Owns their own leasing company, which is a huge competitive advantage. Does a good job surveying their employees to get honest feedback. Very strong and positive culture. Jacket and tie environment - very professional.

    Cons

The old guard sales people make great money and are protected by ownership/management. New reps struggle. Tough to balance selling equipment and the extensive list of sophisticated technology solutions being offered without a decent comp plan. No salary. Gordon Flesch is building a 21st century technology services company on the backs of and at the expense of their sales reps. You need to sell copiers at a full time clip while at the same time selling all of the other technology offerings which carry much longer sales cycles. If you are not blessed with a mature territory with lots of existing clients - it is a very tough gig.

    Advice to Management

If you want to sell software and managed IT Services, figure out how to pay your sales reps a salary to compensate for long sales cycles
