    Great family owned company that cares about it's employees and their families. You work hard but feel appreciated and not like your just a number like a lot of companies.

    You work hard! But that's not a con, as you are part of a great team and are compensated well.

    Don't forget to be a servant leader and be their for your people, that's why we are the best Food distributor in the U.S. and Canada!

    Pros

    401K and profit sharing were good

    Cons

    * Poor vision for the stores division -- no one knows why the senior leadership have disregarded the wholesale base of the company while investing in retail only
    * Poor management hiring -- hiring managers with no food experience
    * Poor leadership at district level -- not really leaders at all, rather corporate mouthpieces with no ability, or desire, to develop people
    * Cancelled all networking and training at the store level -- ended practice of semi annual assistant manager meetings, ended all training programs for internal growth
    * Lack of customer service mentality -- with the limitations on labor, customers are viewed more as annoyances than valueable
    * Limited opportunity for promotion
    * Out of touch senior leadership -- all of the current senior leadership have come from outside the company, and in fact all have come from the Maggiano(?) grocery store chain in Chicago, so there is no understanding of the Gordon culture, and believe me it is very obvious to employees and customers
    *You are paid for 40 hours, required to work 50 hours, actually work 55-60 hours per week

    Advice to Management

    Get back to the Cornerstone Values -- ever since the current generation of Gordons stepped out of operations, the stores division has gone to hell. To many, it is obvious that the stores division will likely be sold off in the next few years.

    Poor management, constant incorrect paystub statements, work habit restrictions, no integrity or responsibility required amongst co-workers, and constant equipment failures.
