I have been working at Gore Mutual full-time

    Pros

Clear strategy. Respected company within the industry. Smaller than the bigger players which allows Gore Mutual to be nimble and meet the needs of brokers and customers. Gore Mutual cares. They are remaining a mutual company and are thoughtful and forward thinking in their approach to rolling policies to the mutual plan. They are committed to the broker channel and are not looking for ways to eliminate the broker and therefore are not focusing all their attention on building a direct channel (as some other carriers are). They are being creative in their distribution models, effectively looking for ways to better service their broker partners. They are being innovative in their product development. A great place to work!

    Cons

They are currently looking for process efficiency. This change leads to a feeling of uncertainty at the underwriter level, however this will only make the company better in the long run.

    Advice to Management

Continue to engage staff in changes. This is working.

I worked at Gore Mutual full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Nice grounds -causal dress code -decent benefits - good people -free gym -disc on ins, good training, good place to start entry level to get a good base for career and then move on -very progressive technology -change in CEO seems very positive

    Cons

-micro managed -low salary - very difficult to reach set targets/objectives in a regular work day, expect to always work more than a regular 8 hour day -poor morale - inappropriate staff levels, constantly understaffed straining the current workforce -some management has little knowledge of what they are managing -rare promotions from within, seem to always seek outside for senior positions, little to no succession planning -extremely numbers/metrics driven - little recognition - high staff turnover -unapproachable management in certain depts.

    Advice to Management

Hire appropriate staff levels for the job you want accomplished. Keep it up on the progressive technology.
