I worked at Gorsuch full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are some incredible people on the Catalog & Merchandizing teams that make the job fun and interesting. The manager of the Catalog department is wonderful and hard working and made it worth hanging in there during the stressful times. Lots of opportunity for taking on new roles and responsibility, as it's a small company so you can wear many hats. Fun industry.

    Cons

The owner of the company created a toxic work environment. Going above and beyond was not appreciated, and the salaries are low for the job expectations and responsibilities. The work hours were extremely demanding- sometimes 70+ hours per week, and stretches of 40+ days without a day off during production season. Vacation is nearly impossible to take.

    Advice to Management

I'm sure that things will change once the current owner retires and passes the business on to her son. I would recommend more regular reviews, especially for the catalog team.

I worked at Gorsuch full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Higher than average pay for the area. Stable work if you don't mind being overworked and over managed to tedium

    Cons

Very traditional top down approach from management and owner equally. New ideas are absolutely not welcome. Very rigid rules, abusive management. FEAR based. Everyone is stressed at the Vail and Avon HQs

    Advice to Management

I would love to give you advice but I don't think that you would listen to any ideas that are not yours
