I worked at Gourmet Burger Kitchen full-time

    Pros

    - Free meals each shift
    - Coworkers were great
    - good holiday pay policy

    Cons

The GBK South Williams location is a mess, and instead of attempting to fix it everyone in management just sits back and blames other people for the issues. It's a constant blame game, as issues just get worse. Management treats employees terribly, didn't feel like they had any respect for the people on the floor who were keeping the restaurant running. Also, the hours were inconsistent. Full time workers could go months with out getting full time hours. The company would hire new full time workers - despite not giving it's current employees enough hours - and give them full time hours for about their first two weeks then cut their hours back too. The employee turn over rate is incredible high because of this. No transparency with management, people would get fired often but no one was quite sure the reasoning so staff was constantly on eggshells. Confusing, constantly changing rules and regulations that were not clearly communicated to the staff.

    Advice to Management

Value the floor and kitchen staff more. The issues in the restaurant are on a management and corporate level, yet no one up there wants to take the blame and work on the problems so it's all taken out on the lower level staff. The restaurant could prosper under long time experienced staff, however everyone leaves after only a brief stint because of the way they are treated.

I have been working at Gourmet Burger Kitchen full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

GBK is the first full time job I have had and haven't looked elsewhere since joining. The ethos behind the company is amazing and anyone would be lucky to be part of it! I have felt supported and welcomed by every person I have come into contact with and am a major advocate for the brand.

    Cons

There is a problem between different teams with regards to following company rules.

    Advice to Management

One set of guidelines for all teams to follow without discretion making it fair for all team members rather than advantageous for a select few

    Pros

    Staff food and work colleagues

    Cons

Poor wage in relation to responsibility chefs are payed more when they don't have to lock up or even have responsibilities of running the restaurant 😂 To be told no staff party and giving us £15 per person for a years work they can keep it!!

    Advice to Management

Pay people what they deserve with the responsibility they are given. To much emphasis on labour saving and expect same service and sales with limited staff.
