I have been working at GovDelivery full-time

    Pros

    Decent healthcare and 401k benefits

    Cons

Motivational speeches, 'rewards' and 'team-y' online chatter do not compensate for below average salaries, a lack of respect for experience/expertise and croneyism. Individuals and teams are siloed to the point of corporate drone-ism a la 1950s.

    Advice to Management

You have more skilled people than you know what to do with.

    Pros

GovDelivery offers clients a good service, in general. There are many competitors who offer much the same technology for less cost, however.

    Cons

Not sure where to begin... 1.) Micromanagement from the highest levels on down. One leader moved his desk into cube rows so he would overhear phone conversations and then criticize us later. 2.) I was encouraged to misrepresent the truth to numerous clients when asked by prospective clients. 3.) We were expected to answer emails after hours and weekends. 4.) Turnover is out of control - the joke was we should install a revolving door because it was getting out of hand. Employees literally had a pool of who was going to be gone next. 5.) Cult of personality - if you didn't suck up sufficiently to top leadership, you were marked for termination (not even kidding). 6.) At one point, I had three bosses in seven months. Two bosses went on vacation and never came back - no explanation. 7.) Customer service always came second to sales - just get the sale and move on.

    Advice to Management

After reading so many negative reviews on this website, one would think leadership would understand that something needs to change. It's too bad, because the technology is good, and you have hard-working employees.

    Pros

The people here work very hard and are very bright. You couldn't ask for better coworkers. I have made many long lasting friendships here.

    Cons

Micro management and turnover is an understatement. Eat your Wheaties? More like drink the Kool-Aid as this place is practically a cult. The company is disorganized and processes to solve problems are mediocre at best. The company is reactive instead of proactive and keeps making the same mistakes over and over again. They will not hesitate to sacrifice people that are excellent employees to cover their tracks. You seriously do not want to be here.

    Advice to Management

You do not truly understand or listen to your employees. You use strong arm tactics and instill fear and intimidation to accomplish unrealistic goals. Many of you should not have any position of power over others. I am ecstatic to be free of you!

I have been working at GovDelivery full-time

    Pros

Good skill sets to develop in order to move on to a more meaningful position somewhere else

Good colleagues in the trenches with you, but that usually doesn't last long as they either leave or are terminated for trivial reasons

OK benefits - not stellar but OK

Free snacks and beverages. You can drink on the job (which is needed due to the high stress of a hostile workplace). Beer and wine are always on stock.

    Cons

Highest turnover I've ever seen in any company. All of my previous jobs combined do not even come close to the turnover I've witnessed at this company. No department in the company is staffed appropriately.

Pay is not competitive and the company has a difficult time finding new hires willing to accept wages they are willing to pay. This is not a good choice to keep and retain great employees, which partially helps to explain the high turnover rate. Many employees are entry level as a result and they cannot perform as well due to lack of experience.

The company only focuses on expanding their footprint, but will not staff accordingly to meet these expansionist goals. All decisions are sales driven. Some markets they cater to are over-saturated forcing them to acquire new companies to sell new products that few or no customers want.

The main software products the company sells are unstable and customers continually complain about software defects that have been around for numerous years. Customers bring up competitors fairly often to let the company know the competitors products are far superior. I would have to agree with them.

Management in every department is either incompetent, or tries to keep up by shifting work to another department/employee that they should be doing. Accountability for management does not apply in this workplace. Work / life balance is poor and you constantly see emails flying around in the middle of the night when people should be sleeping. Seed of dissent will take root.

The workplace is very hostile due to unenforced policies for employees who are abusive. I witness racist, sexist, harassing or otherwise demeaning conversation from both certain coworkers and management almost daily. Human resources will not handle these issues and will turn a blind eye to it. Coming to HR with a formal complaint will mark you for termination later on down the road if you complain about certain employees who are in upper management's good graces, but are nothing but workplace bullies.

    Advice to Management

Develop some integrity. Treat your employees like people and not an expendable cog in some machine. Your turnover is abysmal and you are the reason why.

    Pros

I can't think of any pros; sometimes flexible on work hours.

    Cons

    Where to begin...
    - First off there is no room for growth at this company. Once you are hired for a role, there is no ability to move forward UNLESS you are one of a select few favorites (no exaggeration). They will very very rarely allow a lateral transfer, but only a very few people get promoted in this company...and that takes years.
    - benefits are slim; bonuses are worth nothing
    - management is very poor. Basically they have moved higher-level individuals who were not succeeding in their roles into management positions so they wouldn't have to "fire" them. Thus the managers are not good at their new jobs either.
    - The good higher-ups leave. And fast. I saw multiple managers go out the door from the same role in a year (external hires who quit due to pressure and the incompetence they had to deal with).
    - No customer focus. Dev likes to release new feature after new feature and then not have any bandwidth to support them or make them actually work.
    - HR is ineffective

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. If they are doing good, reward them. You loose good people when you don't make the effort to keep them around and happy.

I have been working at GovDelivery full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The staff is great, the product fills a great niche, but there needs to be more acountability by leadership to reduce the turnover and sudden departure of new hires.

    Cons

There is a lack of leadership and integrity within the technology and operations area. Directors and above are not held accountable for their poor leadership skills and if you ask too many questions you are considered a trouble maker. The turnover is high for a company of its size. HR schedules 30, 60, and 90 day reviews to discuss your opinion of your role and your leader, but do not be candid if you are unhappy because you will not see day 91.

    Advice to Management

    Develop integrity

I have been working at GovDelivery full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

CEO is great and provides energy to what otherwise is a very negative place to work. Great breakfast club. company happy hours.

    Cons

poor work/life balance, high stress with low tolerance for errors or suggestions that might disagree with management, Huge turnover which makes it questionable whether it really is the problem of hiring bad employees or rather a result of a messed up management team.

    Advice to Management

Follow the lead of your CEO. Take some management classes and don't be so quick to pull the trigger on employees who might offer suggestions that disagree with you.
