    they pay reasonably well comparatively speaking

    Cons

    no succession planning no work life balance(offered in some areas and not in others) management is very removed from operations you might see you upper management twice a year

    Advice to Management

    show up be there be seen be available. staff should actually know where your office is. succession planning. work life balance. awful place to work will be getting out as soon as I can. I have only been with service less than a year but government more than 12 and service is the worst steer clear.

    Plenty of learning opportunities, constantly changing job demands, relative job security, minimal job expectations, good place to linger, or put yourself out to pasture.

    Cons

    Quality of management, constantly changing job demands, frequent job openings, management plays games with people, not a place to work long term, get in, get your experience, get out.

    Hold yourselves to higher standards, exit interviews, begin to role model the values that you expect from your staff, walk the talk, start being accountable

    I worked at Government of Alberta - Service Alberta

    Nothing at all, ever ever.

    Cons

    I have never worked for this Alberta Registry, but I would for sure do a better job than the people who are employed their. I have lived and Banff for two years and absolutely dread having to go in their and deal with the rude unhelpful employees. I usually leave very frustrated and having to go online and call other branches around Alberta to get help.

    Hire people who are actually going to help not just want to go home.

    Pros

    work life balance and pension are very attractive. There are many practices in place that make job security a near certainty.

    Cons

    performance and advancements are still primarily based on seniority rather that merit. There is no desire to push high performing individuals in to new roles. the best employees leave for better opportunities.

    there is a need for merit based performance evaluations. There is an old school mentality towards promotion and employee development.
