I worked at Government of Canada for less than a year

    Pros

Pay is excellent considering the level of work/life balance. Incredible job security. It's near impossible to be fired when you get intermediate status. In the right team, your work will have tremendous impact on the lives of Canadians.

    Cons

Horrible corporate culture. Lack of innovation. Bureaucratic nightmare. In certain offices, success is more about looking busy than actually getting anything done.

I worked at Government of Canada full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good pay, good environment. It's not the greatest place for innovation or creativity - I felt a lot of my ideas and contributions were shot down.

    Cons

Lazy people, government is axing employees at the moment, so low morale. It's a good job if you are used to the 9 to 5 work life.
