    Positive Outlook

I worked at Government of Canada as a contractor

    Pros

Very friendly and professional staff, with a collegial workplace culture. The embassy has some very talented people from diverse backgrounds, as well as great working hours. The government network can be leveraged for additional career opportunities, but you need to be proactive.

    Cons

Can be bureaucratic at times, and it's a large workplace that requires time to get to know everyone. You likely won't know everyone, and that's partly be design (prevent conflict of interest for Visa/Immigration). Turnover every few years of diplomatic staff, which isn't great if they are amazing people.

    Advice to Management

Delegate tasks more evenly amongst the staff, and do everything in your power to recognize the staff who are pulling above their weight and allow them more opportunities to advance and succeed.
