I worked at Grace Healthcare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Literally the most rewarding job in the nursing field imo. Great pay (many coworkers disagreed with me on this), flexible schedule, co-workers mostly got along & lots of team players

    Cons

Management constantly feeling the need to change your job functions & duties (sometimes for the better, sometimes not..), like any nursing home, management not wanting to help pick up slack (like taking extra shifts because of huge vacancies d/t a mass exodus every few months), crazy family members (again, no different from any other nursing facility). Main complaint was expecting regular nursing staff to pick up extra shifts even after a nurse had specifically been hired to work when a spot was unfilled. Health insurance wasn't great either.

    Advice to Management

Have patience with the nursing staff, don't run all over and demand so much from the CNAs ( a night shift cna with 36 residents is only going to be able to handle so much in the 3 hours before shift end when they're able to start getting everyone up) because they will find another job asap and leave your facility desperate for staff, causing every other member of the nursing department to suffer.

I worked at Grace Healthcare part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Developing relationships with the residents, they become like family. Great CNAs who run their butts off to get their work done.

    Cons

Disillusioned management like to make changes with no input from floor staff. Poor staffing, unsafe nurse/CNA/resident ratios.

    Advice to Management

Include all staff in making facility decisions that affect everyone, staff enough workers to take care of residents safely, they are our customers and reason for employment.

I have been working at Grace Healthcare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

We have a great team, and work together to get the job done. I love our residents and it is a pleasure to be able to provide the care for them that they are unable to do for themselves.

    Cons

We often work very short-handed and have too many residents to give them the best care they need and deserve.

    Advice to Management

Listen more to the employees and try to fix problems as they arise. Many times it seems like theres an open door policy, but then nothing gets done to resolve the issues.
