I have been working at Grady Health System full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

LOTS of opportunities to learn real nursing. High level of acuity in all departments, bring a positive "can do" attitude and you will have lots of help from other nurses. Everything isn't perfect all the time so you learn how to adapt and really critically think. I personally have loved every nurse that I have worked with so far. They are extremely positive and encouraging to new graduates. Ask for help, don't mess...

    Cons

The hospital is in overflow status all of the time. Every single bed is always full, so expect 30 min after your discharge, you are going to get an admission. Plan accordingly!

    Advice to Management

I worked at Grady Health System for more than 2 years

    Pros

The best thing about working at Grady is how you are helping the community. Serving the underserved population of Atlanta is an important motivation to help keep you going when work becomes trying. The nurses and physicians in the ED are pretty great to work with and they really care about the patients.

    Cons

Unfortunately, it is very understaffed. You have a lot of work on your plate and not many people who can help. It is a great place to excel if you work well independently and have a lot of self motivation. Sometimes, it can be a negative environment because the understaffing can make employees frustrated.
