    Pros

Great people and atmosphere. Accommodating to employee's personal obligations. Plenty of experienced professionals to learn from.

    Cons

Compensation is low compared to competitors. Annual raises and bonuses are low if given at all.

    Advice to Management

Try to balance the top heavy organizational structure that exists. Too many project managers and not enough projects.

I worked at Graef, Anhalt, Schloemer and Associates full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I have nothing positive to say about this company.

    Cons

The O'Hare office has to be the worst office environment anyone could imagine. No one speaks to one another. You feel like you've been locked in solitary confinement on Death Row. The workload varies so much that you'll have months of just sitting there and no one seems to care. They have a bad reputation with IDOT and Tollway, so they don't get any new work from them. This is the Cleveland Browns of engineering companies; your career goes to die here. STAY AWAY.

I worked at Graef, Anhalt, Schloemer and Associates full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Will work on many varied and interesting projects across many different markets. Many health programs offered for employees. The CEO and non manger team leads are very friendly and easy to get along with.

    Cons

Management will ask you to lie about your timesheet hours to save a project budget and keep your billable hours in line. Expect to work a minimum of 45-50 hours a week and be reprimanded for taking an hour long lunch break or not wanting to work nights/weekends. None of the support staff like each other and will make getting your work done difficult depending on how much they like you that day.

    Advice to Management

The trend in E/A firms is moving towards 3-4 upper staff that works in business development and project management with 6-10 engineer designers and technician designers. Cut the bloat and pay your entry through mid grade employees better, I saw so many <5 yr people cut and run while I was there for a better salary.

    Pros

Flex time is easy to use. The office is well lit and a good physical atmosphere.

    Cons

Flex time is abused constantly, there is little to no accountability and the office is extremely top heavy. The workload varies greatly and there will be months at a time with no projects coming in. The turn over rate for a smaller office is astounding.

    Advice to Management

There needs to be better communication between management and their employees. If you want to retain employees you need to reward them.

Very friendly staff- no catty politics or favoritism
    Employee owned
Helps employees advance their careers- very good mentorship, and encourages more education

    Advice to Management

Keep the working environment you have

I have been working at Graef, Anhalt, Schloemer and Associates as an intern

    Pros

Very helpful coworkers. Great business culture with a strong influence in Milwaukee's infrastructure. Great social events that helped initiate sincere relationships within the office.

    Cons

At times, workload was a bit slow for the interns and high workloads for project managers. Could have done a better job distributing work or hiring less interns.

    Advice to Management

Incorporating interns/co-ops into the project managing aspect of the job would have been more helpful rather than simply working on CAD.
