One of the few Large Corps that is Employee Focused

Nov 12, 2021 - Commercial Account Manager in Little Rock, AR

    Pros

Employee focused large corporation. Great culture. Great benefits.

    Cons

Difficult to move up or around. The sales forecasting models you are goaled on for next round are sometimes tricky to see the logic and can be challenging. Changes that sometimes do not make sense, then they change it back, then may change it again.

Nice pay, dwindling benefits, unending tedium. Jump ship while you still can.

    Pros

    - Commission can be enticing - occasionally fantastic - Great networking - Quality sales training - Resume visibility (looks great on a resume, Grainger is the biggest in the B2B MRO game)

    Cons

    - Terrible "check the box" leadership, from the regional level trickling down to local leadership. KPI's are completely unreasonable for some, as executive leadership adopts/drives a cookie-cutter approach that forces many square pegs into round holes, which has led to an ongoing company-wide talent exodus. - Significantly increased workload/responsibilities heaped onto an already full plate, spotlighting the company's shrewdness around cost-savings and "efficiency". - A once-wonderful profit sharing plan has been whittled down to a pittance and cannot be differentiated from a standard retirement plan. - Upward mobility is typically only achieved through "development plans" that boil down to jumping through hoops/getting on your knees for 6-12 months to demonstrate willingness to the hiring manager or the hiring manager's leader. Upward mobility is typically tied to relocation, as well.
