I worked at Grainger full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Clean, dry and relatively safe environment to work in. Job stability used to strong until Amazon jumped in the ring. After that, all bets were off. Branches closed and a lot of the remaining jobs went to Mexico. That might not seem like a "pro" but it is, if you are Mexican.

    Cons

There's a lot of corporate BS. Each year employees are forced to do self reviews that end up nowhere. Just a waste of everybody's time just to fill reports to make upper management feel good about themselves. Nothing is ever done with those reviews.

I worked at Grainger full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Benefits & pay are probably good, not employed long enough to have experienced it to the fullest due to management sour relationship.

    Cons

Management needs to be more lenient. Too strick with policies & procedures. Also quick to write-up employees even during family emergencies. Branch Manager was tough to work with.

I worked at Grainger part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Really incredible company. Worked there from May 2016 to June 2017 and only left because I was about to pop with my first little one. Amazing co-workers and genuine upper management. Great pay, customers and environment.

    Cons

I can't say there are any, unless you aren't someone who can handle being on their feet all day and lifting things ranging from 1-50 lbs at a constant. If you don't know the product, it can be a little difficult to figure out what customers want. They will bring in a random part off of a motor, have no information on it whatsoever and hope to be leaving that day with a replacement part. If you know motors or industrial products, you're probably good to go. But if you are like me, you're going to be clueless and lost. HOWEVER there is an upside to that, your co-workers will be amazingly helpful and make sure they help you find what you're looking for.

I have been working at Grainger part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Very competitive pay, especially considering part-time status. The company keeps their employees well informed of changes. Plenty of opportunity for for individual feedback, as well as surveys to rate management. The company has a great infrastructure with many tools to help you succeed. Individual goals are realistic.

    Cons

Changes happen often. Its a very corporate type of business structure. Growth can be very slow, if at all.

I have been working at Grainger part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Grainger is a company who knows how to take care of their employees. Although I have seen many changes over the three years that I have been with them I can honestly say they have always tried to keep employees at the top of their priorities. Great benefits, decent training and almost always spot on communication.

    Cons

Many changes have taken place in a short amount of time. Some changes have posed difficulties for employees when dealing with customers but there is a light at the end of the tunnel that all of these changes are for the better.
